Madoka Magicast!

Hello, all. I've got a bummer announcement to make about the immediate future of the podcast, so please read this, especially if you're a Patron!

In the past couple weeks, Yasha and Vanna's internet has had, uh, major problems. Basically, it's become extremely unreliable and they are unable to do most things requiring internet connection until it's fixed, which includes recording podcasts. We tried waiting it out in hopes it'd get fixed and we could throw a new episode together in time for this week, but it didn't happen, and it appears their internet is truly borked to the point it might be some kind of local infrastructure problem. There's no ETA on when they'll be able to record again. It could be fixed tomorrow, it could be fixed a month from now.

In other words: we don't know when the next regular episode of Magicast is going to be. Yes, this is happening right after we came back from a summer hiatus. :|

This recording is an "episode" where Panda and I talk more about it, along with some mixed-in discussion with Pokemon, in an attempt to put out something entertaining for this week. But we really apologize that this is happening. If you're frustrated, we want you to know we are just as frustrated as you are, if not moreso.

To our Patreon supporters, we understand if you want to delete your contributions until it gets fixed. Honestly, I might personally encourage you to do so out of guilt at this point, as most if not all of you are the people who stuck around through our hiatus when we weren't putting out any episodes.

For updates, you should check our Twitter account: http://twitter.com/madokamagicast - since we only use Soundcloud to upload audio episodes and not much else. We hope you understand, and we love you all!!!

We're off hiatus for real this time, and coming back to "The different story" manga! In this week's episode, Mami and Kyoko totally break up and start dating other people, but they just can't stop running into each other. Romantic comedy hijinks are sure to ensue, right?

This was supposed to be up for you last week, but unfortunately Yasha & Vanna have been having catastrophic internet trouble recently. Yeah... right after we came off hiatus. That's messed up our recording schedule, so we're trying to work with what we've got. Hopefully it won't delay new episodes for too long. Fingers crossed, and we'll keep you updated!

Our summer hiatus is almost over! Before we get back to more Madoka Magica episodes, let's take a moment to talk about something we are ALWAYS talking about on this show: a completely different other anime, Revolutionary Girl Utena! Prominent longtime RGU fans Yasha and Vanna discuss with Amanda why the show may be especially appealing to PMMM fans while explaining some of the frequent references we make that might have been going over people's heads this whole time. Our summer hiatus is over! Here's host Amanda and producer Panda with a post-hiatus update. The first new episode will be premiering on August 13th! We hope you look forward to it!

In this episode, we continue reading "The different story" manga, which details the backstories of Kyoko and Mami and their friendship prior to the events of the original Madoka Magica anime. Chapter 3 of the first volume picks up from the cliffhanger of Kyoko's father discovering she's a magical girl, and...... whew boy, let's just say the cliffhanger ends in everyone falling off that cliff into a LARGE pit of sadness sharks.

Our coverage of the Different Story manga was made possible by Patreon supporters. Thank you so much! If you want to see more content like this and think we deserve it, support us on Patreon!! http://patreon.com/madokamagicast

It's time to take our first look at some of the PMMM manga side stories with "The different story", which focuses on the relationship between Mami and Kyoko! And is it just Amanda, or is this very gay??? Join us for a discussion of Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, the history of translating anime, and finally the first two chapters of the TDS manga!

It's been a while since we recorded, and with the world on COVID-19 lockdown and the Magia Record anime recently wrapping up, the hosts get together for a casual chat about upcoming podcast plans, housekeeping matters, and addressing some Youtube comments. Plus, there's an official call for action on our listeners: send us your thoughts on the Rebellion movie - specifically, why you LOVE it! We'll be doing a Rebellion positivity episode in the future, and there's a pretty good chance that your thoughts will be read aloud and discussed on the show! Leave a comment here or e-mail us at [email protected]!

In this episode, we watch the third episode of the Magia Record anime, where we get to know some characters we only got brief glances of in prior episodes. Plus, we're starting to see how this show stacks up to the story in the gacha game, and... well, it looks pretty? WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU, MAGIRECO ANIME.
