  • S3 E6: The Inner Game of Leadership; What is Coming To You is Coming From You

This week Magenta dives into the inner game of leadership. Another way to talk about this is the oft-used term: mindset. What IS mindset, and how can we better understand it, work with it, and transform it? And how could our inner world of mindset actually shape our outer world? We break it down with some real-life examples.

“What  you think appears around you” and “what is coming to you is actually coming from you” are two challenging assertions that we have found to be true in our own lives and work. We’ll get into why this is and how we can use this phenomenon to our advantage.

How can we help shape and influence the mindset of those we are leading? We offer some “left field ideas” to inspire a more creative approach to getting teams and groups on board with your vision.

  • S3 E5: The Unexpected Secret to Good Boundaries

Magenta FM returns from a hiatus to take on the important topic of boundaries. As always, we have a unique take on the topic. We focus less on what one should say or how to assert yourself. Instead, we go upstream and discuss energetic boundaries and how creating strong internal energetic boundaries can eliminate most, if not all, boundary violations.

We give lots of examples of places where you could have issues with boundaries that you may not recognize, including resentment, conflict avoidance, guilt, codependency, and doubt.

We’re going to talk about the energetics of setting boundaries where you focus on the right foundations for boundary setting so it's already in place. Another way to describe this is nipping bad boundary setting or violations in the bud, before they have a chance to even happen.

We get to the heart of the issue — and the unexpected secret — when it comes to boundaries and that is: self-esteem. Strong self-esteem means strong personal boundaries. Ones that you don’t have to enforce in an aggressive way, but are clear and firm to yourself and to the world.

We offer practical steps to strengthen your self-esteem in surprising and achievable ways!

  • S3 E4: Is Radical Acceptance really a good idea???

Radical acceptance is a term that seems to be growing in popularity. Is radical acceptance really a good idea? Where should we apply this idea? And where might it cause more problems? When one is striving for inner mastery, won’t radical acceptance keep us short of our highest potential?

The Magenta team look at radical acceptance in three different contexts: of reality, of the circumstances of our lives, and of the parts of ourselves that are not easy to like or accept. Within each of these contexts, we offer our thoughts on when and how radical acceptance can help us get further toward our goal of inner mastery, when it can help us heal.

We share some stories about weaknesses that we struggle with and where radical acceptance can fit into the healing of those. Such as difficulty finding our voice when we are leading a team or a project, and facing our own inner fears and doubts. Do we just accept our fear as our fate and stay small? Or do we go to battle with the fear? And can we even win a battle against part of our own self? If so, how?

Lastly, we dive into a juicy personal story of jealousy. This story illustrates how the shame and embarrassment we may feel about the weak or unlikable parts of ourselves can make radical acceptance even more difficult. We discuss the difficult line of having compassion for our shadow while not letting it hijack us.

  • S3 E3: Meditation revealed - both the fruits, and the huge dangers that no one is talking about!

Magenta dives into the topic of meditation and sheds light on what can actually happen within your inner life through certain practices of meditation. We also explore the dangers of popular styles of meditation that can have serious consequences for one’s mental health, spiritual development, and for our ailing world.

Meditation, as Magenta teaches it, is all about consciousness and working with the very practical realms of the soul: thinking, feeling, and willing. We get into the practice of concentration, which can seem on the surface boring and prosaic, but within concentration lies the opportunity for rich discovery and development. Not just for the sake of focusing better or being more productive in life, but for aims much higher and more purposeful.

We discuss several popular meditation techniques and why within some of them lie real danger, particularly with neuroscience brain-wave techniques. We also explore manifesting meditations and techniques, how they actually can work but why we caution against them.

Lastly we discuss the limitations of meditations that use breathing or breathwork as well as guided meditations.

  • S3 E2: How To Take On Your Personal Development with Intense Efficiency

How can you approach your personal development work with intense efficiency? And why would someone want to take a more rigorous approach to their healing and capacity building?

In this latest episode, we’ll talk about why we need to shift our mindsets from self-help junkies to young Jedis. Because if you want to level up and reach your full potential, this is going to require a degree of effort and work that you might not be accustomed to. We get into some good reasons why you should consider it.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if all the confusion, searching, and failed attempts at solving and healing your issues was made more efficient and effective? And imagine if you were able to develop capacities and abilities that you don’t yet possess, but need in order to bring your visions and ambitions to reality. This is what a path toward mastery is for: to become capable and strong.

We dive into some tenets of rigorous practice. How can we sustain a consistent training of our inner life? What are the dangers of shortcuts and “magic pills”? And finally, where should one begin?

If you want to make significant changes to yourself and the stakes are too high to stay small, this is for you.

Are you longing for more purpose? If you want to make more meaningful contributions to the world, and connect more deeply to your purpose, this episode is for you. Louisa and Rachel kick off Season Three by answering the question, “Why is spiritual development essential for connecting to our purpose?”

It is understandable why we look to our outer circumstances as the place to make changes in our lives and in the world. But our inner world actually shapes our outer world. At every scale.

We explore the phenomena of inner world shaping outer world and what the implications are for us as human beings wanting to help heal our world in crisis. And why is healing our soul an essential step on our journey to fulfilling our destiny?

Through developing a solid moral compass, we find inner freedom from our compulsions and hidden motives, and we can learn to dialogue with the spiritual realities wanting to guide and help us, IF we know how to ask the right questions. We discuss these and other issues around moral development.

And lastly we address the doubting questions so many people carry: is my destiny even practical? Does the world value what I have to offer? What about the economy? What about the political machine that is stacked against me?

  • S2E10: The Central Issue of Mental Health, Part Two: Rethinking Consciousness

In this season finale, the Art of Mental Health Part Two, we bring some concepts and ideas that open up whole new vistas for us in preparation for our third season: The Art of Spiritual Development.

There is a common assumption that the brain is the source of consciousness, and consequently our interventions are typically about fixing the brain – either through “rewiring” or drugs or other brain-based interventions. Instead, we’d like to propose that consciousness does not come from the brain, but that the brain is the instrument, the mirror, of consciousness.

Why does this matter? Because if we detach the source of consciousness from the brain, we are forced to consider the nature of our consciousness as something other than a product of chemistry, chance, or biology. This is very empowering actually, because then we are not slaves to our biology as we might previously have believed.

This discussion sets us up to introduce an important idea that is also a controversial topic: we need to include the light of our superconsciousness in order to heal our subconsciousness — the realm of our “finished worlds” and of the shadow — and if we don’t, mental health issues will continue to rise. Moreover, the world will fall into more and more social, political, and environmental chaos.

We introduce a new anatomy of consciousness that can help us better understand the nature of healing, and also help us design better interventions, methods, and tools for healing our inner worlds.

  • S2 E9: The central issue of mental health (Part 1)

This week, we talk about what we call “the finished world creations of our mind” and why that is at the heart of what we experience in mental health challenges.

In this part one of two concluding episodes to our mental health season, we are going to talk about what lies at the heart of inner development when you really boil it down. And that is getting to know and transforming or healing the finished worlds we create.

The addictive, compulsive nature of the finished world is what we are up against when it comes to mental health/mental illness. No wonder we have such difficulty healing ourselves! We think it worth laying all this out so we can understand the forces that are actually going on in our soul life, why mental illness can seem so pathological, and why society tries to approach it in a medically informed way. The stakes are very high as we all know.

In this first part, we begin with laying out our definition of what we call the finished world creations, and in part two we will dig deeper into the implications, which include studying the spiritual nature of these types of creations and how they play out in our lives. This is essential to understand so we can adjust accordingly our approaches to healing and transformation.

  • S2 E8: Soul addictions - why we all are addicted and what we can do about it

In this episode we get into an important subject in our work in Magenta: addiction. However we don’t talk about the much more common types of chemical addictions and substance abuse, nor do we get into other types of addiction such as to porn, adrenaline, shopping, and other examples of non-chemical-based addictions. Instead, we talk about a little known phenomenon of the soul where we become addicted to the ways we see things, the conclusions we draw, and the beliefs we hold about ourselves and the world that come from a wounded place.

Not in ALL things are we addicted; we mean something like having a hair trigger toward rage, or easily succumbing to depressive-style emotions, or tending to get easily offended. These are deeply entrenched habits where we would rather fight to the death than let them go. We usually have strategies that are firmly in place to act out on these addictions, such as flying off the handle around certain triggers, or dissociating when confronted with something that triggers our shame, or protective mechanisms we use for avoidance, defense, or to cope.

Soul addiction is central to Magenta’s lexicon, and we think it needs to be brought into more awareness because it has a big implications on the path of healing and emancipation from soul wounds.

  • S2 E7: How to attune to your inner life and why it matters for your growth and healing

This week we dive into the topic of: attunement. How do we tune in to our inner life and why is that important?

Attunement is important for our inner development because to grow and transform we must follow the ubiquitous precept: “know thyself.” And how can we know ourselves if we are not tuned in to our inner world, specifically our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Attunement is something that we should experience as children from our caretakers and their attunement to our needs and experience. Sadly, this is often not the case. And while we don’t encourage blame or judgment to ourselves, our parents or our ancestors, we do take responsibility for learning how to attune to ourselves if we didn’t learn this process via osmosis from our parents.

Louisa and Rachel get into some practical strategies for attuning to your inner life. Not to become self-centered or self-absorbed, but to better know what you need and what needs healing.

00:00 Welcome and introduction to Attunement

02:20 Attunement in terms of inner development and thinking, feeling, and willing
