Magic The Flavouring

START YOUR ENGINES! The denizens of the Multiverse are about to witness the most high octane event in its history, as K. Arsenault Rivera takes the wheel of the latest Magic story. But along with excitement and under the layers of sweat and engine grease is a story of normal people trying to rediscover their place after endless change and turmoil.

Another year of Magic and what a year it was! With a tonal shift to the flavour unlike anything seen before, there is certainly a lot to go over. Andy and Nathan go set by set to relive some the highs and lows of 2024 as well as picking their favourite art and artists of the year.

Magic Foundations looks to uphold the absolute distilled core of what MTG is in the game, in some ways to balance the Universes Beyond influx we are looking at in 2025. So what does WOTC consider the quintessential expressions of colour and what cards and themes do Andy and Nathan wish made the cut?

Foundations is rounding out it's product line with a brand new Jumpstart run, and that means new Legendary Creatures to study! Also, Andy and Nathan look ahead to 2025, and ponder on some of the biggest shifts in Magic's design and product philosophy, maybe ever...

Can you taste the fear? Well Andy and Nathan at least try to as they sample the various spooky flavours of Duskmourn. This set may be one of the most tonally polarised offerings since Ice Age, and it may feel like for every satisfying thrill there's a cheap jump scare waiting around the corner.

The Plane of Bloomburrow presents us with a simpler way of life, full of carrot cake and common good for all, and the set likewise has gone someway to bringing the game itself back down to earth. So, in this slower paced set, which cards make Andy and Nathan leap for joy and clap their tiny paws together in glee?

As we get used to our brand new Animalfolk bodies on the Plane of Bloomburrow, a story of heroism and the power of kinship is waiting! Valerie Valdes presents us with a new tale and whilst the stakes may not be as high as we have been used to recently, the heros are no less mighty! Andy and Nathan pour over the latest Magic story and this adorable new setting.

How likely is it that certain Planes are returned to and why? That is what the Rabiah Scale seeks to answer and give context for. So which Planes do Andy and Nathan wish to see again, and do they fully agree with the established ratings?

Third times a charm for Modern Horizons, and this may be the most flavourful yet! Which utterly busted nonsense catches Andy and Nathans attention, and have the ancillary sets become just as packed with Lore as the main ones?
