As we pick our study in Jonah, we continue to be amazed at the power of God in saving a whole city. At the heart of any conversion is faith and repentance. Such was the case with the Ninevites. They received God's word in faith, which produced repentance that was necessary for their salvation.

This morning we'll be looking at the importance of repentance in the believer's life.

Communion Sunday

As we continue our exposition of the book of Jonah, we come to a passage that highlights the grace of our God. Not only do we see Jonah receiving a second chance to do what is right and obey God, but we see the manifestation of God's grace in the prophet's life.

We tend to think that once we have messed up in our walk with God through disobedience, He is done with us. But, oh, is that unbiblical way to think. God in His grace goes after His wayward sheep to awaken their hearts to their need to be in His presence and remember His Word.

As we pick up our study, we come to the verse that reveals a turning point in the life of Jonah, when he is swallowed by a great fish. What we can learn from this single verse is rich and deep.

Surely there is a plan for life. God in His grace and kindness has brought to the world a redeemer, Jesus Christ the Lord. All of this is centered on the resurrection of the Messiah. Without the resurrection the plan fails. But there is the proof and power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ that bring us to repentance and belief in the salvation that He brings.
