"Pull up a chair, neighbors. This week, we're gathering around the table for a very special episode of Magnolia Street, sponsored by Phantom Wines.
Inspired by the everyday rituals that make ordinary moments feel a little more magical, we're exploring the history, folklore and traditions surrounding wine, and the way a shared table can become a place for storytelling, memory, connection and community.
We'll travel through ancient wine mythology and curious superstitions from around the world, explore the magical folklore of the grape, and share traditions passed down through our own families. Kristina takes us into her Croatian heritage, sharing memories of her grandparents, family dinners, toasts, and the rituals that shaped her understanding of hospitality and gathering. Justina sits down with her parents to hear their memories of homemade family wine, summers in Italy, and the stories preserved inside old bottles and family photographs.
Then, of course, we're bringing it all home to the Owens women.
We're tracing wine throughout Alice Hoffman's Practical Magic series, revisiting the Owens kitchen as the heart and hearth of the family, talking Midnight Margaritas, inherited recipes, kitchen witchery, Franny and Jet's rules for the table, and asking the very important question: If the Owens women were wines... what would they be?
Along the way, we're enjoying Phantom Wines' dark and alluring Proprietary Red Blend and rich and enticing Chardonnay, while uncovering the generations of Bogle family history behind the bottle, including the ghostly vineyard lore that helped inspire Phantom itself.
Because sometimes the magic isn't what's inside the glass.
It's the people gathered around it.
