Vince Russo may be gone from WWF, but some of his booking philosophy still remains. That's evident here in 2000, which was both a great year and a ridiculously stupid year in Vince McMahon's House of Hunky Men. We have the infamous E&C vs. Dudley Boyz vs. Hardy Boyz TLC match for the WWF Tag Titles on this show, Shane McMahon takes a bump for the highlight reels when he faces Steve Blackman for the Hardcore Title, and The Rock defends the WWF World Title against Triple H and Kurt Angle, who are also feuding over Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley. We also have some pretty awful stuff we'd rather soon forget, like Tazz taking on Jerry "The King" Lawler and JR shattering a candy jar over Tazz's head, a Thong Stink Face match between The Cat and Terri Runnels, and a lackluster DX members fight between Road Dogg and X-Pac. An imposter Undertaker has been running around the WWF for a while as Paul Bearer threatens to bring back THE REAL Undertaker for this Spider-Man pointing meme of a showdown at the 2nd biggest PPV on the WWF's calendar. Bret Hart also defends his WWF World Title against his baby brother, Owen, in one of the greatest cage matches of all time. The thing a lot of people may forget about this show, though, is that "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase is EEEEVERYWHERE on this thing! He's involved in almost every feud, every match, and is a HUGE player in the landscape of WWF at this time. He's got the fake Undertaker. He's buying up superstars for his Million Dollar Corporation. He's got teams going for titles. He's mega integral to Vince McMahon's House of Fun at this time. We discuss all of this craziness, the crappiness of 'Taker vs. 'Taker while still being in awe of it, the awesomeness of the Hart vs. Hart cage match, and everything in between. WCW went all-in with Bash at the Beach 1998, and it paid off in money but not with show quality. Even matches like Eddie Guerrero vs. Chavo Guerrero and Chris Jericho vs. a returning Rey Mysterio weren't all that great, dragged down by the overall show. Goldberg literally won the WCW World Title from Hollywood Hogan 6 days before this show, in the Georgia Dome, and he put that title on the line against Curt Hennig. That match felt like such an after thought and didn't last long, making Hennig look like a loser. Meanwhile, Hogan was still in the main event slot. He teamed with NBA megastar, Dennis Rodman, to take on Diamond Dallas Page and another NBA megastar, Karl Malone. There was tons of bad blood, controversy, and publicity leading into this one...and it wasn't great. All in all, this show was pretty bad, but WCW was still raking in the cash. So, what did they care?

This show was definitely the epitome of "the Vince Russo era" of WCW. There were jumpstarts, afterbirths, tournaments, weapons all over the place, no real heels or faces, whacky turns, returns out of nowhere, and Russo himself on camera. Lance Storm was certainly the star of this show, but let's be honest...there are NO STARS in this era of WCW. The new United States Champion is crowned, Scott Steiner and Goldberg collide, 3 Count & the Jung Dragons continue their never ending feud, Jeff Jarrett is hitting people with guitars, clowns and demons are fighting, and the whackiness continues! For the second In Your House event, we're going back to 1995. The main event was a battle for the WWF Title between champion Diesel and challenger Sycho Sid. The ring is surrounded by hand-picked babyfaces for Diesel and the Million Dollar Corporation, paid off by Ted DiBiase. This wasn't the best match of the night, however, as Jeff Jarrett not only did a live performance of "With My Baby Tonight," but also defended his Intercontinental Title against Shawn Michaels. To this day, Jeff Jarrett says this was his greatest match ever. In 1994, Hulk Hogan made the leap from the WWF to WCW (with a short hiatus in between). We've covered the end of Hogan's WWE career in previous podcasts and now we're touching on the beginning of his WCW career as he FINALLY goes one-on-one with "Nature Boy" Ric Flair for the WCW Title. This match has been talked about for years and years, built up since Flair joined the WWF in late 1991, and it never happened...until now! Badd! It's ironic that the main event was titled a Stairway to Hell match, because most of ECW was like watching pro wrestling from Hell. It wasn't all bad, though, as we got a decent ECW World Title match between Tommy Dreamer and Justin Credible, a great Four Corners match between Yoshihiro Tajiri, Mikey Whipwreck, Little Guido and Psicosis, Jerry Lynn and Steve Corino had a great match, and we've got a fantastic Six-Man Tag match. Rob Van Dam tries to drag Scotty Anton (the former Scotty Riggs) to a presentable match, Big Sal and Balls Mahoney have a turd, Rhino and Sandman beat each other up over the TV Title, and much more. TNA's first anniversary show was treated like just any other show. However, we did get Sting, Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles, and a debuting Sean Waltman in the main event...for whatever that's worth. Vince Russo's fingerprints and face was all over this one. It was ridiculous "crash TV" at its "finest" (for lack of a better term).
