The Apostle John says that God wants to perfect his love in us, meaning he wants it to be completed -- shown through our actions. Josh teaches that perfected love is a process that happens as we love other through serving; and as God accomplishes love in us we can interact with God in confidence.

He argues that if we see our stuff as ours (and not God's) and we're not willing to use that stuff to help others in need, we're not loving.
