First up, we look back at Jen's interview with Kenny Valentine from last  September. The Kenny Valentine Band will be performing alongside  Joseph, Barnes and Thacker at the Markay Cultural Arts Center this  Saturday, September 10. Tickets are $15 and are available online and at  the box-office.

Following  Friday’s game against Trimble, Vinton County coach T.J. Carper went   into his office alongside the other Viking coaches, sat down for a  minute and started thinking.

After a minute of processing, he leaned up and then it donned on him.

“I haven’t been a part of an 0-2  start since my freshman year of high school,” Carper said. “And that  year, we ended up running the table and going to the state championship.  I don’t know if we’ll do that here, but we’re surely going to try.”

Oak Hill, Rock Hill, better known as – “The Battle of the Hills” – has been pretty much one sided the last couple of years.

The Jackson Ironmen experienced heartbreak and deep disappointment for the second straight week after a close loss decided in the final minutes against a quality opponent. Losing hurts, but not playing up to one’s potential and making too many mistakes is just as troubling.

Last Friday night, the spiritual punch to the gut came in a 14-13 loss on the road to the Tri-Valley Scotties  (2-1). The Ironmen missed the potential game-tying extra-point kick after scoring a touchdown with 2:05 remaining in the game.

This morning we have two local media legends! Pete Wilson has all of the news that’s fit to print and John Boy, John Pelletier is back to tell us about the Ohio Hill Country Festival in Wellston’s Pide Park happening this week starting tomorrow and running through Saturday, Sept. 10!
