This Advent we will focus on a specific Christmas hymn or carol and think more about how it helps us understand the miracle of Christmas. For our third week we will look at the hymn "Joy to the World."

This Advent we will focus on a specific Christmas hymn or carol and think more about how it helps us understand the miracle of Christmas. Today we will consider relatively new carol, "What Child Is This". It's only 156 years old!

 Advent means coming or arrival. During the season of Advent, we celebrate Christ’s coming into the world and watch with expectant hope for his coming again. One of our traditions during Advent is lighting the Advent candle. At the beginning of each service, members of the church will light the Advent candles and share a reading and a prayer.

Today we look at what we believe about the church. How is the church like a family? What does the Bible teach us about being the body of Christ? Today we will learn specific and practical ways we live out God's call to be a church family.

We're going to look at what we believe about eternal life. People, including Christians, believe all kinds of things about what happens after we die, but most of them aren't what we learn from the Bible. Once again, we turn to Jesus' cross, death, and resurrection for all the answers we're going to get, which thankfully are all the answers we need.
