Aldis Hodge will soar as the DC Comics superhero Hawkman in the New Line production of ” Black Adam,” Variety has confirmed. The actor – who most recently starred in “The Invisible Man” and won acclaim for his upcoming performance as Jim Brown in “One Night in Miami” – is in negotiations to join the film, starring Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero, and Noah Centineo as the superhero Atom Smasher.

Samuel L. Jackson is set to reprise the role of Nick Fury in a new Marvel series currently in development at Disney Plus, Variety has learned exclusively from sources. The exact plot details of the show are being kept under wraps, but multiple sources say Jackson is attached to star with Kyle Bradstreet attached to write and executive produce.

Disney has postponed the release of fall blockbusters such as Marvel’s ” Black Widow,” Steven Spielberg’s ” West Side Story” and Kenneth Branagh’s ” Death on the Nile ” by several months. The results are bad news for the exhibition industry, which is facing fierce headwinds after closing for months due to coronavirus.

HBO Max has given a straight-to-series order for “Peacemaker,” a spinoff from the upcoming ” Suicide Squad” film. John Cena will play the title role, reprising his role from the film. The film’s writer and director, James Gunn, will also write the series and direct multiple episodes, including the pilot.

Warner Bros. has postponed the release of ” Wonder Woman 1984,” the latest development in Hollywood’s rocky plans to return to the movies. The superhero sequel starring Gal Gadot, which was expected to debut on Oct. 2, will now touch down in theaters on Dec. 25, 2020.

Disney has Disney Plus, Apple has Apple TV Plus, and now ViacomCBS is about to have Paramount Plus. ViacomCBS announced that it would be renaming its CBS All Access streaming service to Paramount Plus in early 2021. As part of the rebrand, Paramount Plus will also receive five new original series from different verticals across the company, including Paramount, CBS, MTV, and BET.

Silk could soon be the next Marvel character to get her own TV series, Variety has learned from sources. Variety has learned that Sony, which controls the rights to the Spider-Man universe, is developing a live-action series centered on Silk. Lauren Moon is in talks to write. Like Silk, Moon is Korean-American.
