Pakistan has also disappointed its close ally, China. Chinese companies forgave billions of dollars in loans to Pakistan. Now, these debts are being repaid through tourism in Pakistan. China has invested $62 billion in Pakistan, but now Pakistan is struggling to retrieve important documents related to the investment. Chinese analysts believe that Pakistan offers the most opportunities for China. There's an ongoing investigation into the flagship project of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
