THE QUESTION THAT WE AS AMERICANS MUST ASK OURSELVES, IS, WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR US TO DESIRE TO ASK OURSELVES WHETHER OR NOT WE ARE A TRUE CHRISTIAN OR JUST A PROFESSING CHRISTIAN, WHEN, IF THE BIBLE IS TRUE, THEN OUR SOUL IS AT STAKE? WOULDN’T ALL OF US AMERICANS WANT TO KNOW “FOR SURE” IF WE ARE GOING TO HEAVEN OR NOT? BUT WE ASK OUR FELLOW AMERICANS THIS QUESTION, THEY ALREADY HAVE THEIR SECURITY BLANKET ON, AND THUS THE CONVERSATION DROPS DEAD. SO WE ASK THE QUESTION, WHY IS IT, WE ARE SO COMFORTABLE THAT WE ARE FIT FOR HEAVEN WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY SCRIPTURES WARNING US THAT STRAIT IS THE GATE AND NARROW IS THE WAY. SO WHAT IF WE HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THE FEW THAT IS CONCERNED THAT WE MIGHT BE UNFIT FOR HEAVEN AND ARE ACTUALLY CONCERNED THAT WE MIGHT BE UNFIT FOR HEAVEN, IS IT TRUE THAT IT IS NOT US THAT IS DRAWING US TO FIND OUT BUT OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN. Jn. 6: 44] NO MAN can COME to ME, EXCEPT the Father which hath sent me DRAW HIM: and I will raise him up at the last day. [65] And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me(JESUS) except it were GIVEN unto him of my Father(BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD). SO IT APPEARS THAT IF WE ARE CONCERNED OF THE STATE OF OUR SOULS IT IS BECAUSE WE ARE BEING DRAWN TO THE TRUE JESUS AND NOT THE FAKE JESUS, WE SHOULD BE VERY THANKFUL. BUT HOW DO WE KNOW IF WE ARE BEING DRAWN TO THE TRUE JESUS AND NOT THE FAKE JESUS. JONATHON EDWARDS IN HIS BOOK, WHICH THE NARRATOR IS READING FROM IN THIS PODCAST GIVES US AN EXHAUSTIVE INSIGHT INTO WHETHER OR NOT WE ARE BEING DRAWN TO A FAKE JESUS OR THE TRUE JESUS. EVERY ONE OF US AMERICANS THAT IS INTERESTED IN THE STATE OF HIS SOUL SHOULD READ JONATHON EDWARDS BOOK ‘RELUGIOUS AFFECTIONS’ THOROUGHLY TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE NOT DECEIVED OURSELVES. BOTH JESUS AND FORMER MR. MORALITY WARN US ALSO TO EXAMINE OURSELVES, THAT IS THE STATE OF OUR SOUL.
FORMER MR. MORALITY WRITES:
2Cor. 11: [13] For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
[14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
[15] Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
2Cor. 13: [5] Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Heb. 6:[4] For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
[5] And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
[6] If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
JESUS COMMANDS:
MATTHEW 7: [21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
[22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
[23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
[15] Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
[16] Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
[17] Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
[18] A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
[19] Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
[20] Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
FISHERMAN PETER WARNS US:
2Pet.2 1] But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, denying the Lord
IN THIS MESSAGE, ALONG WITH MANY OTHER TOPICS, WE LOOK IN DETAIL INTO WHY WE ARE NOT CONVICTED OF THE SIN OF UNBELIEF AS NATURAL MAN AMERICANS, WHY WE ARE NOT CONVICTED THAT OUR SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS SIN, & AND WHY WE ARE NOT CONVICTED THAT UPCOMING DEATH IS A SIGN WE ARE BORN INTO THIS WORLD ON DEATH ROW, NEEDING A PARDON, BEFORE WE DIE PHYSICALLY. JN. 16: [7] Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
[8] And when he is come, he will REPROVE the world of SIN, and of RIGHTEOUSNESS , and of JUDGMENT:
[9] Of sin, because they believe not on me(UNBELIEF)
[10] Of righteousness(SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS), because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
[11] Of judgment, because the PRINCE of this world(SATAN) is judged.
WHY IS IT AS NATURAL MAN AMERICANS, WE AS NATURAL MAN AMERICANS THINK WE CAN BELIEVE ON CHRIST BY FAITH, THAT IS, THAT WE ARE ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE JEWS, AT THE TIME OF JESUS, WHO UTTERLY REJECTED JESUS, THOUGH HE WAS EXACTLY THE MESSIAH THE OLD TESTAMENT PORTRAYED HIM TO BE? HOW COULD THE THEOLOGIANS, THE PHARISEES, AT THE TIME OF JESUS, MISS IT, AND THUS COMMON SENSE TELLS US IF JESUS CAME TO AMERICA TODAY, WE AS WELL AS THE THEOLOGIANS OF AMERICA TODAY WOULD REJECT JESUS ALSO. THE NATION OF ISRAEL AT THE TIME OF JESUS HAD BEEN SO LONG UNDER A FASTFOOD FREEWILL DOCTRINE THAT JESUS PREDICTED THAT ISRAEL WOULD BE WIPED OUT, WHEN IN
MATTHEW 24:1-2 HE PREDICTED EVERY
STONE OF THE TEMPLE WOULD BE TORN DOWN, WHICH IS THE SAME AS SAYING THAT EVERY STONE OF OUR AMERICAN CAPITOL
WOULD BE TORN DOWN. JUST ABOUT 40 YEARS AFTER JESUS MADE THIS
PREDICTION, TITUS THE ROMAN IN 70 A. D. CAME IN MASSACRED OVER A MILLION OF
THE ISRAELITES AND TORE DOWN EVERY STONE OF THE TEMPLE AND ISRAEL DID NOT BECOME A NATION AGAIN UNTIL ABOUT 1900 YEARS LATER. Mt. 24:[1] And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
[2] And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
JONATHON EDWARDS WAS THE PASTOR OF THE CHURCH IN NORTH HAMPTON MASSACHUSETTS, WHERE THE GREAT RELIGIOUS AWAKENIMG WAS IGNITED IN 1734.
AT THAT TIME GEORGE WASHINGTON, JOHN ADAMS AND THOMAS JEFFERSON WERE LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD IN 1740 AND THUS GREW UP AMIDST THE GREAT AWAKENING FOR GEORGE WHITEFIELD FURTHERED THE GREAT AWAKENING FOR HE PREACHED OVER 18000 SERMONS, ABOUT 15/WEEK FROM 1740-1770.
BENJAMIN FRANKL RECORDS IN HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY THAT ONE TIME GEORGE WHITEFIELD CAME INTO PHILADELPHIA AND BENJAMIN FRANKLIN ESTIMATED THAT ABOUT 30,000 WERE IN ATTENDANCE. BUT BY 1746 JONATHON EDWARDS DETERMINED THAT SATAN HAD SOWED MANY TARES AMONGST THE WHEAT AND SO HE WROTE THE BOOK, ENTITLED RELIGIOUS AFFECTIONS, TO HELP THE COLONISTS DETERMINE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TRUE CHRISTIAN AND A PROFESSING CHRISTIAN. THE DOCTRINAL STATEMENTS DURING THAT PERIOD
OF TIME WERE MUCH MORE DETAILED THAN THEY ARE TODAY, BUT EVEN WITH THOSE DETAILED DOCTRINAL STATEMENTS IT WAS NOT ENOUGH AND THUS JONATHON EDWARDS FELT COMPELLED TO WRITE RELIGIOUS AFFECTIONS TO HELP THE COLONISTS MORE EASILY DIFFERENTIATE THE TRUE CHRISTIAN FROM THE PROFESSING CHRISTIAN. IN AMERICA TODAY THE DOCTRINAL STATEMENTS ARE SO WEAK AND WIDE OPEN THAT YOU COULD DRIVE A SEMI THROUGH THEM. TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA HOW MUCH MORE DETAILED THE DOCTRINAL STATEMENTS WERE AT THE TIME OF OUR AMERICAN REVOLUTION LET US LOOK AT THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH DOCTRINAL STATEMENT WHICH IS CALLED THE WESTMINSTER CONFESSION AND PRINCETON WAS PRESBYTERIAN. HERE ARE SOME EXCERPTS TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF HOW DETAILED AND COMPREHENSIVE IT WAS.

Of Free Will.
III. Man, by his fall into a state of sin, has wholly lost all ability of will to any spiritual good accompanying salvation: so as, a natural man, being altogether averse from that good, and dead in sin, is not able, by his own strength, to convert himself, or to prepare himself thereunto.
CHAPTER III.—Of God's Eternal Decree.
VI. As God has appointed the ELECT unto glory, so has He, by the eternal and most free purpose of His will, foreordained all the means thereunto. Wherefore, they who are elected, being fallen in Adam, are redeemed by Christ, are effectually called unto faith in Christ by His Spirit working in due season, are justified, adopted, sanctified, and kept by His power, through faith, unto salvation. NEITHER are ANY OTHER redeemed by Christ, effectually called, justified, adopted, sanctified, and saved, but the elect only.
HOW MANY OF US AMERICANS ARE COMPLETELY WEARY OF GOING DOWN DEAD END STREETS AND WHEN WE COME TO THE END OF THAT DEAD END OF THAT STREET, WE MUST THEN TRAVEL ALL THE WAY BACK TO ITS ENTRANCE, AND THEN GET BACK UPON ROAD OF THE JOURNEY OF LIFE AND THEN TO BLINDLY MAKE ANOTHER LEFT HAND TURN INTO ANOTHER DEAD END STREET. KING SOLOMON WRITES IT THIS WAY IN HIS PROVERBS:
Prov. 14: [12] There is a WAY which SEEMETH RIGHT unto a man, but THE END THEREOF are the WAYS of DEATH.
Prov. 16: [2] ALL the WAYS of a MAN are CLEAN in HIS OWN EYES; but the LORD WEIGHTETH the SPIRITS.
Prov. 12: [15] The WAY of a FOOL “IS” RIGHT in HIS OWN EYES:
BUT
HE that HEARKENETH unto COUNSEL
“IS”(=)
WISE.
BUT THE QUESTION IS WHICH COUNSEL SHOULD WE LISTEN TO:
OURSELVES?
Prov. 28: [26] HE that TRUSTETH in HIS OWN HEART
“IS”(=)
a FOOL:
BUT whoso WALKETH WISELY, he shall be delivered.
CAN WE TRUST OUR HEART?
JEREMIAH: 17: [9] THE HEART
“IS”(=)
DECEITFUL “ABOVE”
“ALL” THINGS,
and DESPERATELY WICKED: “WHO can KNOW it?
MOSES WRITE:
Gen. 6: [5] And GOD saw that the WICKEDNESS of man was GREAT in the earth,
and that
EVERY IMAGINIATION of the
THOUGHTS of HIS HEART
was “ONLY”
EVIL CONTINUALLY.
SO WE AS JOHN Q. PUBLIC OF AMERICA SAY TO OURSELVES, IT DOES’NT SOUND ADVISABLE TO TRUST IN OURSELVES, SO WHO THEN SHOULD WE TRUST IN, WHO SHOULD WE COUNSEL WITH?
WE SAY TO OURSELVES, IF THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE TRUTH, THEN THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE RIGHT OR WRONG AND EVERYTHING BECOMES RELATIVE, BECAUSE IT BECOMES NOTHING MORE THAN ONE PERSON’S OPINION AGAINST ANOTHER.
BUT WOULDN’T IT BE NICE IF WE COULD COUNSEL WITH THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH, BUT COMMON SENSE TELLS US THAT THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH CANNOT BE KNOWN VIA UNDERSTANDING. AN THUS IS IT POSSIBLE TO KNOW THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH VIA UNDERSTANDING.
IF JESUS IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH WOULDN’T IT BE WONDERFUL TO HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST SO WE COULD ELIMINATE GOING DOWN THOSE ENDLESS DEAD END STREETS?
WE WILL EXPLORE THESE QUESTIONS AND MORE IN THIS MESSAGE.
FORMER MR. MORALITY WRITES THIS TO HIS BRETHREN IN CORINTH:
1COR. 2: [14] But the NATURAL MAN
RECEIVETH NOT the things of the Spirit of God:
WHY?
for
they are FOOLISHNESS unto him:
NEITHER can he know them,
WHY?
because they
are spiritually discerned(ONLY A SPIRITUAL NEW CREATION CAN UNDERSTAND THE SPIRITUAL).
[15] But he that is SPIRITUAL(MAN)
judgeth ALL THINGS,
yet he himself is JUDGED of NO MAN.
[16] For WHO hath known the MIND of the Lord, that he may instruct him?
But
“WE”
have the “MIND” of Christ.
SO FORMER MR. MORALITY IS SAYING THAT BOTH HE AND HIS CORINTHIAN BRETHREN HAVE THE “MIND” OF CHRIST.
GOD’S FREE GRACE IN THE SALVATION OF SINNERS, PROVED FROM THE CONVERSION OF ST. PAUL BY GEORGE WHITEFIELD!!!
GEORGE WHITEFIELD HAD TO CONFRONT HIS DEAR FRIEND JOHN WESLEY, FOUNDER OF THE METHODISTS CHURCHES ABOUT DENYING GOD’S FREE GRACE(ELECTION) AND EMBRACING MAN’S FREE WILL. BELOW ARE EXCERPTS FROM GEORGE WHITEFIELD’S LETTER OF REBUKE TO HIS FRIEND JOHN WESLEY.
December 24, 1740
Very dear brother,
God only knows what unspeakable sorrow of heart I have felt on your account since I left England last. Whether it is my infirmity or not, I frankly confess, that Jonah could not go with more reluctance against Nineveh, than I now take pen in hand to write against you. If nature was to speak, I would rather die than do it; and yet if I am faithful to God, and to my own and others' souls, I must not stand neutral any longer. I am very apprehensive that our common adversaries will rejoice to see us differing among ourselves. But what can I say? The children of God are in danger of falling into error. No, indeed numbers have already been misled, whom God has been pleased to work upon by my ministry; and a greater number are still calling aloud upon me to also voice my opinion. I must then show that I know no man after the flesh, and that I have no partiality, James 2:9 any further than is consistent with my duty to my Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. This letter, no doubt, will lose me many friends. From such considerations as these, I think it my duty to bear a humble testimony, and to earnestly plead for the truths which I am convinced are clearly revealed in the Word of God. In the defense of it, I must use great plainness of speech, and treat my dearest friends on earth with the greatest simplicity, faithfulness, and freedom, leaving the consequences of all to God.
O dear Sir, what kind of reasoning—or rather sophistry—this is! Has not God, who has appointed salvation for a certain number, also appointed the preaching of the Word as a means to bring them to it? Does anyone hold election in any other sense? And if so, how is preaching needless for those who are elected, when the gospel is designated by God himself to be the power of God unto their eternal salvation? Romans 1.16. And since we do not know who are elect and who are reprobate, we are to preach promiscuously to all. For the Word may be useful, even to the non-elect, in restraining them from much wickedness and sin. However, it is enough to excite us to the utmost diligence in preaching and hearing, when we consider that by these means, some—even as many as the Lord has ordained to eternal life—shall certainly be quickened and enabled to believe. And whoever attends to this, especially with reverence and care, who can tell whether he may not be found among that happy number?
Second, you say that the doctrine of election and reprobation tends to directly destroy holiness, which is the end of all the ordinances of God. "For" (says the dear mistaken Mr. Wesley) "it wholly takes away those first motives to follow after it, so frequently proposed in Scripture: the hope of future reward and fear of punishment, the hope of Heaven and fear of Hell," etc.
I thought that one who carries perfection to such an exalted pitch as dear Mr. Wesley does, would know that a true lover of the Lord Jesus Christ would strive to be holy for the sake of being holy, and work for Christ out of love and gratitude, without any regard for the rewards of Heaven or fear of Hell. You remember, dear Sir, what Scougal says, "Love's a more powerful motive that moves them."
Dear Sir, these things should not be so. But I hope the Lord will show you this before you go from here. O how I long for that day! If the Lord should be pleased to make use of this letter for that purpose, it would abundantly rejoice the heart of, dear and honored Sir.
Yours affectionate, though unworthy brother and servant in Christ,
George Whitefield
