Hi and welcome to episode 7 of make cake sell cake. The topic of todays podcast is the much used phrase 'I can't compete with Hobby bakers'. Today I'm going to put myself out there and say that is complete rubbish. There is a really really common misconception within the industry that hobby bakers and bakers that charge too little are destroying the industry and making everybody pull their prices down.  That's just not true. Saying you can't compete with hobby bakers is wrong!

Today we're going to be talking about the move into wedding cakes. When the majority of cake makers start wedding cakes are not on the agenda. I know this was the case for me. I literally just started off making cakes for my kids. That then grew into cakes for their friends. One thing led to another and then the move into wedding cakes became the next natural progression. But it can be really scary. What I'm going to do is give you some tips now that actually I wish somebody given to me 10 years ago. It would have saved me a fortune in advertising.
