Rhonda Garcia has been breaking musical barriers since 1993, when she joined Mariachi Campanas de America, becoming the group's first female member. As a member of Campanas de America, she performed with a "who's who" in the mariachi music industry including Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano, Sol de Mexico, and Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan. During her tenure, she worked with some of the biggest names in the Latino music industry including Celia Cruz, Vicente and Alejandro Fernandez, and Gloria and Estefan. In 1998, she joined Mariachi Los Caporales, becoming the group’s first female as well.
As a recording artist, she has four albums to her credit, including two with Campanas de America and two with Mariachi Los Caporales. She has also recorded violin and vocals on a multitude of albums by artists including Veronica Castro, Conjunto Primavera, and with Tejano stars such as Ruben Ramos, Elida y Avante, and Michael Salgado.
Rhonda Garcia has performed as a featured soloist in various Mariachi Festivals including the L.A. County Fair, Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza, Mariachi USA Festival at the Hollywood Bowl and Las Vegas' first ever Mariachi show on the strip "Mariachi M Passion and Tradition" at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino.
Rhonda Garcia is also an accomplished educator. She is currently a 5th grade Dual Language Master teacher at Graebner Elementary, where she specializes in teaching English Language Arts. Rhonda also founded the school’s first ever Mariachi program. After school, Rhonda dedicates her time to teaching children Mariachi music. The Mariachi program currently consists of 50 children, and is growing rapidly every year.
