Listen to this week’s episode as Doggy discusses some of his recent failures and mistakes in the shop, including obvious mistakes with his bandsaw and belt sander.
They talk about custom cutting boards and end grain pattern cutting boards! Doggy struggles to describe a built-in teppanyaki cooktop that he made a huge cutting board to cover in his cousin’s house, so here’s a link to show it off (https://www.thebbqdepot.com/cook-n-dine-mo80-31-1-2-built-in-teppanyaki-cook-top/ ).
Ty talks about wanting to make more epoxy boards and end grain boards so he can start getting commissions on them!

Listen to this week’s episode to hear the guys talk about some of the things they do to get their mojo back and feel rejuvenated in the shop.... and to hear Doggy slice his finger with a bread knife that he made in the shop last week…
Ty is going to start a ‘brick and mortar’ style end grain cutting board for a local youth sports team raffle - Doggy recently started making knives and is excited to build up inventory for a craft market in May!
The guys talk bandsaws and bandsaw blades because Doggy has snapped 4 blades in the last year. He has had tons of issues with his Grizzly tools and is wondering if it’s him or the tools he’s using…

Tyler and Doggy talk about all the ways they’ve messed up epoxy in the past (spoiler alert: it’s a lot!). They poke fun at each other’s blunders while laughing at their own mistakes.
They talk about shop improvements and when it makes sense to build/buy new shop furniture and when it makes sense to modify old shop furniture to “get by.”

The guys talk about some of their experiences with shop vacuums – from starter shopvacs that have manual start switches to much newer vacuums with autostart technology, autofilter cleaning, and Bluetooth pairing with battery operated tools.
Doggy has some hot takes on CNC “woodworking” and Ty disagrees on all fronts. The guys have a mild-tempered argument about the (over)use of CNCs. Doggy is not impressed by people using CNCs to perform tasks that would otherwise require only basic woodworking skills to complete. The guys have a somewhat heated discussion that ends in neutral state.
Ty takes two breaks during the recording and Doggy takes every opportunity make fun of him for it.

The guys have a REALLY hard time coming up with a title for this week's episode.
Doggy is out of town on a site visit for work in Lemoore, California and doesn’t have his microphone so is his audio is a little weaker than normal.
Ty is in a low motivation phase and is trying to get back into a good rhythm in 2023 after battling a broken tibia for the last month or so.
They talk about epoxy river tables and whether they’d make them for themselves! In that discussion, they discuss making new projects for the sole purpose of adding an item to their portfolios.

They roll into a conversation about wood glue cure times and how long they each let their glue ups sit before they work on them!
Ty deals with CNC issues (per usual) but is raving about the customer service from @OnefinityCNC!

Catch up with the boys... Doggy is working on coasters as usual, but also busted out his new flattening sled to use on his soon to be redwood desk top. Ty is keeping busy with 3D signs, and refinishing jobs while trying to navigate a very hectic holiday week!

The guys catch up after taking a few weeks off from recording the podcast!
They chat about the IG follower shakedown that occured over the weekend - basically some accounts lost large amounts of followers but gained them back after a slight glitch!
Doggy finished up his bathroom remodel last week and went to California last weekend to see his girlfriend. Other than that, he has been engaged in "Operation Coaster Storm" making hundreds of bottle opener coasters for holiday gifts! Ty managed to get his finger stuck in the drum sander for a second - something that may sound silly at first, but is actually terrifying to think about the 'what ifs' if he hadn't been able to get his finger out. Be careful with those drum sanders - with the dust collector on, they are very very quiet!
