In Season 4 Episode 24, I am joined by Craig hailing from Liverpool, England. Growing up, Craig didn’t have many opportunities to travel abroad with his family—just a single trip to Spain—but he was fortunate enough to join friends on a few international trips during high school, which sparked his early curiosity about the world.

It wasn’t until university that Craig truly realized he wanted to travel. Inspired by YouTube creators like Yes Theory, he found himself increasingly drawn to the idea of exploring the world. During COVID, Craig and his friends even planned a month-long USA road trip, optimistically expecting travel to resume by summer. While that plan didn’t materialize as expected, the lockdowns gave Craig time to reflect. Between university, part-time work, and gaming, he consumed more travel content than ever—and that’s when he decided he wanted a different path.

Rather than pursue a traditional 9–5 career in mechanical engineering, the field he studied, Craig set his sights on combining travel with content creation. Over the following year, he began taking smaller trips and producing videos whenever possible, building momentum between lockdowns and completing his master’s degree.

After graduating in 2021, Craig focused on saving for his first major solo backpacking adventure. In 2022, he took the leap—leaving his job, selling his car, and booking a one-way flight to Colombia. He spent four and a half months in South America, including two weeks in Ecuador, before returning home to regroup and save for his next journey.

Since then, Craig has visited 42 countries across five continents, with the goal of exploring every country in the world while turning his passion for travel storytelling into a full-time career.

In this episode, Craig shares his experience solo backpacking through Iraq, offering a unique and eye-opening perspective on a destination often misunderstood. His journey takes him through Iraqi Kurdistan, the historic city of Mosul, the tranquil Mesopotamian Marshlands, the bustling capital of Baghdad, and the ancient ruins of Babylon—highlighting both the country’s rich history and the warmth of its people. In Season 4 Episode 23, I am joined by Liv originally from Connecticut. Liv is a travel writer, content creator, and photographer originally from Connecticut. When she was 17, she moved to Oahu, Hawaii—an experience that sparked her love for travel. Living on an island surrounded by beaches and mountains inspired her to spend more time outdoors, explore new places, and connect with people from around the world. While living in Hawaii, Liv began taking solo trips every few months and quickly realized how much she loved experiencing new cultures.

After finishing her degree in Sociology, Liv set off at 20 years old on what was supposed to be an eight-month backpacking trip. That journey eventually turned into full-time travel, and she’s been on the road ever since.

Now she works as a freelance travel writer, content creator, and photographer. Through her project World Wise Fridays, Liv aims to educate and inspire Americans about different cultures while learning, experiencing, and capturing the world around her.

In this episode, Liv joins the podcast to share her experience exploring Socotra, Yemen—an island often described as one of the most otherworldly places on Earth. In Season 4 Episode 21, I am joined by Deanna, hailing from the UK. Deanna’s love for travel began at 15, when she fundraised for a month-long volunteer trip to Borneo with her school. Experiencing a completely different way of life sparked a desire to truly immerse herself in future travels, even though she didn’t yet have the confidence or know how that would look.

After COVID, while working at a convenience store, the urge to travel returned. Discovering au pairing led her to Orlando, Florida at 19, where she spent two years traveling across the United States on her days off, visiting 21 states and gaining the confidence to travel solo. She later volunteered in Tanzania for two months, an experience that pushed her far outside her comfort zone and deepened her connection to meaningful travel.

In February 2025, after a year of saving, Deanna set off for Asia, beginning with three months in India filled with local festivals, personal growth, and lifelong friendships. But it was Thailand that truly defined her travel style. After meeting a fellow traveler in a hostel, she was invited to stay in a remote village in northern Thailand. The week that followed — planting rice, helping on a farm, wild camping, trying unfamiliar foods, and learning about the Karen people — became a turning point.

That experience showed Deanna that immersive travel, living alongside locals and experiencing daily life firsthand, is what she connects with most. Through documenting her journey, she aims to share perspectives and ways of life many people may never otherwise see. Tune in today!
