Ayyyy welcome back to your fave travel podcast. Thanks for tuning in and getting yourself ready to make some MOVES with me. Let's get it!
In Season 5 Episode 14 (Part 1 of this special two-part episode), I am joined by Curtis aka Jonesy hailing from Newcastle, England. Curtis didn’t travel much growing up, but after a month-long trip to Vietnam, he caught the travel bug. Completely unprepared but hooked on the experience, he came away with a simple philosophy: never judge a place until you’ve experienced it yourself, rather than relying on social media or mainstream headlines.
Five years later, Curtis embarked on his first long-term adventure, spending nearly 10 months backpacking through Central and South America. That journey sparked something bigger — a desire to build a life around travel and seek out the places less travelled.
Most recently, Curtis set himself an ambitious challenge: travel from Newcastle, UK to Newcastle, Australia without flying. Over more than 40,000 kilometres and 35 countries, he’s crossed borders by bus, train, car and on foot — all while racking up an impressive 1,750 beers along the way.
In Part 1 of this epic overland adventure, we follow Curtis from the UK through Europe and into the Caucasus, hearing the stories, surprises and challenges that came with travelling overland across some of the world’s most fascinating regions. And this is only the beginning — the journey continues all the way to Australia.
Join us as we dive into Curtis’s adventure, his love of off-the-beaten-track travel, and what it really takes to cross continents without stepping on a plane. Tune in today!
