🎤Rich at (03:45) - Imagine a hostage situation. The Air Force is going to try and drop a bomb. The Navy is going to try and go through the back door. The Army is going through the front door. With the Marines, he is like we’re coming through the roof.
🎤Rich at (08:00) - Whether you’re military or not, whenever you’re making a transition, whether it’s to another industry, whether it’s to another role, whether it’s to another city. Whatever it is, you have to be okay with the fact that you’re gonna start over. Like no one from the Navy could just come to the Marine Corps and be like ‘I got this.’ That’s not how it works.
🎤Rich at (09:53) - The question was simply this like “If you were to start a business, in your town or wherever, what would you do? How would you start?” And I was like this isn’t about their core values, this is not about managing people, these are not behavioral questions. This is literally like what's your business acumen? And I’m like damn, I have been in the Marine Corps for a while so that’s a little bit challenging. But it’s called O SMEAC, which is Orientation, Situation, Mission, Executionand then Commanded Signal.
🎤Rich at (12:12) - If Mark was interviewing me, I would immediately try and figure out what Mark’s pressing issues are in his role. And if I could solve and even speculate on how I could potentially solve the problem he has with my skills and my talent to make his job easier, he’s gonna hire me.
🎤Rich at (16:50) - I’m not telling people to quit necessarily. There’s great jobs out there and there's a traditional workforce for many many people. But if you feel that there is this untapped potential, I want to be the guy to help you realize it like it’s real. It can happen and I'm a lot better for it.
🎤Rich at (17:17) - This is for anyone who is in a job right now or anyone who is interviewing for a job, or looking for a job. If you’re able to position yourself mindset wise to treat it as if you were paying those people with your money, you’re gonna be a very different person.
🎤Rich at (17:45) - If this was coming out of my pocket, how would you look at it? Would you look at a P&L statement? Would you want to have relationships with the people upstream and downstream from you? There are so many things that I wish I could have done better. And I did things really well but that’s a different story. You will stand out and it doesn't mean you need to be an entrepreneur per se. But if you think like that, that’s going to just help you understand and elevate your business acumen a little bit.
