On visiting the Temple of Jerusalem, that center of Jewish life, Our blessed Lord saw the sad conversion of his Father's house of prayer, i.e., house of encounter with God, into a house of secular business. He was so angered that he made a whip of cords and flushed them all out of the Temple. The religious authorities demanded from him the authorization for doing this. The Lord prophesied about the dissolution of the temple of his body and in three days return to life. He does present to us followers of Christ the reality of our bodies as Temples that need to be cleaansed for occupancy of the Blessed Trinity.

One of the areas of assistance we need to be aware of making fraternal corrections. Our Lord Jesus Christ himself talks about this responsibility we all have. No one is perfect. Neither is any of us able to see himself as he goes about his daily duties. Hence, third parties will be able better to check on us. Rather than to gossip about us we need to see our duty of letting the concerned party know about his defective behavior so that we could correct it.

Our Lord Jesus Christ brings up two points. First, he criticized the Scribes who focused more on themselves, having the choicest positions. Vanity seems to be their problem, thus displeasing God. Second, he praised the generosity of a poor widow who contributes all she has, although little relative to the contributions of richer donors. These latter contribute from what they had extra. But the widow gives all she has. She pleases God more.

This rivalry between God and Money is felt by most of us. We know that we cannot have both as our masters. There needs to be a hierarchy between them. Jesus Christ asks us to put God ahead of money. The devil is successful in convincing people to think that if we do that then we need to say good bye to Money. This is a lie. We need to use money. This set up is also provided by God's care for us. There is a compatibility between the two. In fact, we need to create lots of money. It is the special way we would be able to serve the others.

The end of the Liturgical Year is approaching. The theme of the Last Things is highlighted by the Church in the Gospels of her masses these days. Today we have a steward who has been caught by his master in defrauding him. His masters wants him to prepare to leave him by fixing his affairs. He does so in a crafty way by settling the accounts of those who owe his master.

Since we have been chosen by God to exist in the world and to be His children we need to be more mindful of ourselves. A healthy spirit of self-awareness will go a long way to foster gratitude to God, penitential disposition of our sins and humble smallness in need of help from God to continue in the struggle to reach Heaven.

I speak of the need for supernatural outlook in order to be obedient to seize occasions as opportunities to imitate Our Lord Jesus Christ.
