Making Peace with Our Body and Mind with Gretchen Spetz

Listen Later

Today our conversation is with Gretchen Spetz. Gretchen is a registered and licensed dietitian and creator of The Functional Kitchen.

we talk about ...

  • how our struggles become our message
  • what it really means to be healthy
  • how our body and brain are always on the same team
  • our perspectives on weight loss
  • finding our own definition of healthy
  • why it’s so hard to actually eat intuitively
  • splenic authority / intuition in human design
  • the importance of nervous system regulation in regards to food
  • how to not let our food define us
  • “busy” being a badge of honour
  • ... and so much more ...

Throughout the course of her career, Gretchen has come to learn that the key to better health through food is not a simple equation of eat less and exercise more. She has learned to use functional nutrition to influence the root causes of chronic diseases, assist the body's natural regulation mechanisms and bring everything back into balance.

She has a BA from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in public health nutrition from Case Western Reserve University. She worked as an outpatient dietitian specializing in weight management, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, and autoimmune disease at two of the country's top hospitals. In 2022, she was recognized as an Integrative and Functional Nutrition Certified Practitioner (IFNCP) after completing the most comprehensive certification program in functional nutrition through the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy.
