The Jordan Journey

Making Professional Learning Stick with Caleb Olsen

Listen Later

This month for the Jordan Journey podcast, our focus is the ISTE Standards for Coaches on Professional Learning Facilitator. We talk with Caleb about how to plan, provide and evaluate the impact of professional learning for educators and leaders to use technology to advance teaching and learning.

Over the course of this episode, we discuss the following questions:

  1. What is the most memorable learning experience you’d ever created?
  2. How can you make learning more sticky?
  3. In Teaching that Sticks, the authors reference six principles of sticky learning - Simple, Unexpected, Concrete, Credible, Emotional, Story.  Which of these elements do you think make the biggest impact in professional learning? Why?

Don’t forget to listen to our “Pitstop” segment where we shout-out something awesome happening in Jordan School District. Caleb highlights the JSD Health & Wellness Day on Feb 10. This day is an opportunity for JSD employees to prioritize their personal wellness by being:

  • Curious: using the day to try something new or learn a new strategy that could enhance your personal and professional wellness.
  • Intentional: proactively planning to meet your unique wellness needs.
  • United: spending time building relationships and strengthening work connections.
