Psalms were an integral part of OT worship, and some psalms end with doxologies (a praise formula) or prayers that might have served a concluding role in worship. For example, Psalm 106 ends with:

"Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, 'Amen!' Praise the Lord."

About:
The closing prayer is an opportunity to pull the service threads together. What has struck you as we have prayed, sung, fellowshipped, communion-ed and learned together? What has the Spirit revealed? "Father, thank you for showing us.....help us to....."

God bless, Malcolm

What does God know about you? How do you feel about what he knows? What difference does it make to our lives that he has searched and known us? Today, we look at verse two of the Psalm and God's knowledge of our inner and outer lives.

“You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from far away.” (Psalm 139:2 NRSV)

Question - Let’s say you are finishing your lesson preparation. As you review it, ask yourself: What does this lesson look like for the congregation on Monday morning? How can they apply it? If you cannot answer those questions, re-write your lesson until you can.

The perfect lesson does not exist, and that’s fine. The goal for any speaker is not perfection but growth.

God bless, Malcolm

Do you want God to know you? Really know you? How do you feel about God searching you? Let's take some time today to consider how to process God knowing us, and learn to welcome it.

Show Notes here: https://www.malcolmcox.org/you-are-a-wonder-psalm-139-series-part-3-malcolm-cox-quiet-time-coaching-episode-537/

Question
How do you feel about God searching you? What would help you welcome his search, cooperate, and enjoy it?

---
Suggestion
Ask God in prayer today to create a deep sense of security within you as he searches you. Look up Scriptures that connect with the themes of knowing God and God knowing us. For example, ![[John 17.3]]

Conclusion
Next time, we will move on to verse 2.

Today, we continue a series exploring why we do what we do at a Sunday gathering. Last week, we focussed on testimonies. Today’s topic is the Lord’s Supper, communion, or eucharist.

Question - What is the most meaningful aspect of the Lord's Supper for you, and why? If you could change one thing about how the Lord's Supper is currently conducted in your fellowship, what would it be, and how would that make it more meaningful?
