  • 89: Tuesday Teaching Tips: "What does the New Testament teach us about preaching" Part 4
We are here for a look at a fourth word the New Testament uses to describe preaching and teaching - 'didasko'.
1\. Teaching that amazes causes a reaction - Mark 6:2
Not teaching to create a reaction
But teaching that causes a reaction
    Draw out implications and applications
2\. Teaching that inspires others to teach, Mark 6:6
    Others active
Draw even more people to Jesus
3\. Teaching when it is inconvenient to teach, Mark 6:34
    Needed quiet / rest
Compassion not exhausted by effort of teaching
See the people, not just the page

  • 19: Quiet Time Coaching: "How to be Consistent in Prayer"
Growth is about consistency. Whether in savings, health or relationships. The same is true of prayer. The depth of our relationship with God is as much dependant on consistency as any other factor. Few would argue with that.
The big question is, if we develop the consistency will we lose the spontaneity?

  • 88: Tuesday Teaching Tips: "Resources for Busy Preachers"
Announcing a new page on my website.
Life is busy. An understatement. All of us who preach and teach know it is a privilege. We want to do our best for God. And we want to serve those to whom we are called to speak. Our audience have invested a great deal of collective time travelling to hear us.
It can be overwhelming. Especially to us recovering perfectionists!
I have solutions on this page. Ideas, tips, resources and templates to make your lesson preparation smoother and your lesson delivery more effective. Some of these ideas are my own, some borrowed and others adapted.

  • 18: Quiet Time Coaching: "How to set yourself up for spiritual growth this year"
What spiritual goals do you have for the year ahead? I am writing this in the first week of January. Over the past few days, I've done a thorough review of last year and created some goals for 2018.
ll healthy aims need a strategy. Here are four steps for developing a sound strategy for spiritual growth.
    1\. Aspiration. Clarify your aspiration.
2\. One. Find the one tool that will move you in the right direction.
3\. Action. Now we have an aspiration and a tool we need an action.
4\. Goal. Your goal is to execute your action connected with your tool in pursuit of your aspiration.
