I remember a while back scrolling through my Instagram believing that It was the key to success.

DJ reminded me that social media followers don’t equal success.

It’s what we call THE SPECTATOR CULTURE!

Simply put, this is believing that because someone is posting on social media they are successful. I’ve had countless people come up to me when I was inactive on social media and say, “Oh are you still building your business?”!

As if a post equals hard work! Do you see how ridiculous this is?

Really think about it, there are people online with over 1 million followers scraping by trying to make rent. On the other hand, there are people who have a following of less than 5000 and have a bank account bigger than anyone on Instagram’s follower count.

Here’s the harsh truth! Your follower count on social media doesn’t equal success.

Now I can hear you saying, “But social media is important to a brand's success”!

I would be lying if I told you social media was unimportant.

However, it infuriates me when I see so many people putting the cart before the horse.

Here’s a fact: The owner of Fashion Nova has no Instagram at the time I’m writing this. However, it seems like he found a way to make every Instagram model an affiliate.

It’s nearly impossible to see any attractive girl on Instagram that doesn’t promote Fashion Nova.

Are you beginning to see why it’s necessary to build something behind all the social media?

Can you imagine yourself building a following of nearly 12 million people, and still wondering how you will pay rent? What if you had a way to get your followers to pay you.

Here’s some simple math for you! Just 1% of 12 million people (120,000) paying for a 10-dollar product would equal 1.2 million dollars.

This is shocking when you think about how many people have large followings and NOTHING IS FOR SALE! You might feel good from seeing all the likes. But likes don’t equal a paycheck or self-fulfillment!

Let me confess something. I was doing social media wrong for years.

I’m so angry today because I know there is a big lie holding you back!

If you’re like most you’ve been told all your life YOU NEED CONNECTIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL!

It’s like the old saying “To the man with a hammer everything looks like a nail!”

Most of us believe this means meeting a rich or famous person.

Imagine for a second you meet one of the most powerful and influential figures you’ve ever seen. People are mesmerized by their presence. Just being around them is captivating and people hang on their every word, and you feel confident and get excited just being around this person.

It’s obvious this person can help you get ahead in life, right?

Just suppose you met a financial genius who could teach you everything about finance. It’s not an economic formula or stock statistic that gets by them. However, all you want to do is achieve enlightenment and become a spiritual teacher. You are not concerned about money or material things.

Now you’re probably thinking “Well they could teach me about finance and help me fund my spiritual teachings”!

The problem is your philosophy on life is fundamentally different, and this would always create conflict.

Over time your beliefs about spirituality would get in the way of their belief in profit first, and vice versa.

There is only one solution to this.

You must get the RIGHT people for you to achieve your version of success.

Are you beginning to see why it’s ridiculous to believe your success is dependent on a specific person?

I want to invite you to notice how your success is more about how you leverage the relationships around you than making a specific connection.

This is why many times people don’t realize their friends without any accomplishments can be the piece they need to be successful.

Just suppose you met a friend at a summer camp when they were a nobody. This is easy to do. However, years later they get a position that get’s you next to an investor you needed to meet.

Do you see how you cultivated that connection?

As your mind responds to this information, you’ll begin to notice that you should focus on finding friends and influences that align with your goals.

You have no idea that other people’s opinions are stopping you from being successful.

Picture yourself five years from now. You listen to every opinion and constantly adjust your behavior. Instead of stepping up and taking action, you suppress your ideas to make sure that everybody likes you. You never feel confident or influential. People don’t dislike you, but they don’t like you that much either. You generally get a meh… response!

Now imagine you actually pursued your ideas. Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could follow your passion and accomplish all your goals and dreams? Just think about how different your life will be when you take action and feel deeply confident you can accomplish anything. You brush off negative criticism, dominate your goals, and achieve total control of your life and emotions.

Now, let me ask you a personal question! Why haven’t you done this right now!

If you’re like most people you’ve let the opinions of friends, family, and society determine what you will do in life!

Really think about it, what would you do if you didn’t care about other people’s opinions?

You’ve probably heard people say money changes people.  

STOP and ask yourself why this has been repeated by so many people.  

Henry Ford once said, “Money doesn’t change men it simply unmasks them”!
