En este episodio especial  conversamos con las educadoras y artistas peruanas Luz Vargas, Angélica Chávez, y Rossana Mercado Rojas sobre la situación política en Perú actualmente, las causas, qué está pasando, las protestas, opiniones sobre los cambios de presidentes, incluyendo el más reciente presidente, Francisco Sagasti.  

También expresamos nuestros sentimientos, esperanzas, expectativas,  y solidaridad que sobrepasan las fronteras, entendiendo que los sentimientos son parte del conocimiento.

El evento fue organizado por Amnistía Latinamerika en colaboración con La Dekoloniala, Chola Contravisual, Hysterix, Las Insurgentes, Peaceworks Stockholm, Gallery Majkens y Detroit Gallery.

Cada 28 de septiembre es el Día de la Despenalización y Legalización del Aborto.

En este performance hablo sobre la situación del derecho al aborto en República Dominicana. Esperancita era una niña dominicana de 16 años que murió de leucemia en 2012. Se le negó un tratamiento que le habría salvado la vida porque tenía 9 semanas de embarazo y la quimioterapia podría haber matado al feto.

The event was organized by Amnesty Latinamerika in collaboration with La Dekoloniala, Chola Contravisual, Hysterix, Las Insurgentes, Peaceworks Stockholm, Gallery Majkens, and Detroit Gallery. 

Every 28th of September is the Day for the Decriminalization and Legalization of Abortion.

In this performance I talk about the situation of abortion rights in the Dominican Republic. Esperancita was a 16 years old Dominican girl who died of leukemia in 2012. She was refused a treatment that woul have saved her life because she was 9 weeks pregnant, and chemotherapy could have killed the fetus.

In this episode I talk about what is white feminism, why white feminism is so scary and dangerous, and historical events with my personal experiences.  Every time I hear someone saying “we need more cis women in leadership positions” I feel a little uncomfortable. I remember Hillary Clinton saying in an interview that “in order for Europe to stop the rise of the far-right and fascism, Europe must curve migration”.

Why is Afro hair so political? The colonial history of Afro hair, and current events. I will also share my personal natural hair journey.  

We discuss the politics of self-care, why it is a political action, how we can take care of ourselves and our loved ones, all this while me doing one of my favorite self-care rituals: make up and listening to music.  When fighting injustice it is also important to remember that oppressed people are constant receivers of capitalist exploitation, colonialism, ableist, homophobia, policing, and other forms of systematic and structural violence. Loving and taking care of that body is not only important to keep going, but also that love and self-care becomes a powerful political action.

Facebook Live May 1st 2020 We will celebrate and commemorate Workers Day from a decolonial perspective and the importance of interseccionality. Some of the topics will discuss include the white working class during the Colonial times and migration.
