Ms Geetha Mani - an English Trainer by profession. I am also a certified Expressive Arts Therapist. I strongly believe that every individual, irrespective of gender, community, religion, disability, can achieve maximum potential if they are willing to let go of their fears and explore life to the fullest. I have written a book on this theme called “Unbox Yourself.

I started Vyuthpathi Trust in 2013. I ran a free tuition centre in Kannagi Nagar slum, Thoraipakkam for 4 years. I later closed it down due to financial constraints. In moments of crisis, like Covid-19 & lockdown, I think ordinary citizens should come forward to help others in society. We should not wait for government authorities, politicians or religious leaders to take action. We should do what we can. Even a small help can make a great difference in the lives of the poor/downtrodden. That’s why when the first lockdown was extended I jumped into action. I touched base with all my school & college friends through Facebook and started collecting funds. I used these funds to buy groceries for the slum people, construction workers…anybody who was in need. Till date, we have distributed groceries (rice, dal, sugar, pulses, oil etc.) to the tune of Rs 3,24,302 and counting. 

I hope to continue this work for another 6 months at least to help the people tide over the immense financial trauma they underwent because of the continuous lockdowns in the last 3 months.
