This is the beginning to the end of Israel as a unified nation after Saul's death some chose to follow after Saul's son rather than David, the anointed king of God, and civil war breaks out thereafter.  Jesus is the true vine from the Father and we are grafted in to bear good fruit as the Helper comes to help us.  Our joy comes from keeping His commands.

Psalms written by David as he is running from the persecution of Saul.  David is used to running his entire life yet never questions God but rather continues in faith and trust.   Upon Saul and Johnathan's deaths David writes this tribute respecting the tremendous burden of being the king of Israel and honors the lives of God's anointed.

By God's hand, David wins a great battle and all that was taken was restored while Saul lost all that was taken including he and his sons lives.  David's Psalm of seeing as the Holy Spirit is upon him that even in his failings he is still righteous because of God's righteousness being on him.  Called to follow after Jesus, he who has seen Me has seen the Father.  The Helper, sent in Jesus name, will teach you all things.

David's location is given up while hiding from Saul and he cries out to God in his helplessness, yet looks past the present situation turning his eyes to God's power and faithfulness, trusting him even during the night watches.  The fall of Saul in visiting the witch of En-dor where Samuel foretells of Saul’s imminent death.  The Phillistine's while preparing to go fight Saul, send David away from the battled out of fear of his alliance shifting.

David flees from Saul to the land of the Philistines and deceives the king of Gath by killing tribes of the land yet telling the king he was raiding and killing Israelites to gain his confidence.  Both Psalm are of David wanting to give God all the glory for his victories but also to be vindicated and rescued.  Before the Passover feast and his betrayal, Jesus washes his disciples feet demonstrating the servanthood of Jesus and calling them to do the same saying "all will know you are my disciples by your love for one another."

David’s psalms of trusting God to judge, to save the faithful, and of being far from home yet strong with God. Judas betrays Jesus, Simon warned, and Jesus goes silently as a lamb to the slaughter by choice …yet is going to the cross as the Son of God, as Messiah, as deity.

David clips Saul's robe and Saul sees David's righteousness and that the kingdom will be his.  Psalms where David is looking for protection from his enemies as they persue him and desires nothing more than to dwell in the house of the Lord forever and look upon His beauty, taking refuge in the Lord as only He alone can rescue.

Saul in his jealous pursuit to kill David slays the priests of Nob only causing David to acquire a greater following.
