You don't have to earn rest — but somehow it's the hardest thing to give yourself. There's always one more thing. So you keep moving, keep holding, keep being the one who makes it all happen, until you've forgotten what it feels like to simply stop.
This is the practice that asks nothing of you. Lie down, and let the ground hold what you've been carrying. At first the mind keeps reaching — for the list, the worry, the next thing. Then, if you stay, the reaching quiets.
And in that stillness, something opens — not because you forced it, but because you finally got out of the way. Wildflowers grow where the ground is ready and nothing's in the way.
The awakening doesn't need your effort. It needs your stillness.
