The fun and games all stop here...I wish

Introducing one of my lifelong friends, Da'Shaun Harrison. He's a Writer & Community organizer. He's the kind of person you want to meet, and I guarantee you won't forget. 

We spend time speaking about Trans issues, Anti-Fatness culture, Police Brutality, Black Issues, the power scale of culture, horoscopes, and so much more. 

This episode is one of my personal favorites because we stepped outside the typical content and conversation. Da'Shaun and I share an ability to weave through conversations effortlessly. This allows us to be in the moment and offer our own personal truth to the other person's thoughts. 

To really understand the concepts in this episode, you're going to have to continue to do more research ON YOUR WAY. Google will be your best friend for a few months. There's no reason to be embarrassed or ashamed of where you are in the journey. I personally, Nathanael Tyre, wouldn't have gotten to where I'm at without people like Da'Shaun guiding me.

This week we got the opportunity to interview Dondrae Moore. I first got the chance to meet this gentlemen at the legendary Warsaw Day in Warsaw, NC. 

Dondrae is a blogger by trade and has evolved into creating photography as well. He initially began blogging because it was a creative escape for him. With the traumatic events in his life, there was no telling where that energy could be placed. So, instead of putting into eating unhealthy food, he chose writing. 

After he began his journey, he noticed other people looking at him weird because he was a man with a blog. None of that mattered. Dondrae touts the fact that the opinions of others have not been able to stop him from fulfilling his dreams and ambitions. 

Dondrae’s one key take away from this interview was to “Just be yourself.” And I couldn’t agree more. There’s no other person alive, besides yourself, you owe your happiness to.

He’s the Owner and Founder of the Carolina Film Festival, it’s Oliver Crooms IV. He’s the son of a grammy nominated artist, a preacher kid, and a man who knows where he wants to go. Throughout his life, spirituality and God have been are the forefront. Knowing that faith without works is nothing, he continues to move forward without fear. He began his journey by focusing on the grass-root communities in the Carolinas. From his background in the entertainment industry, he knows what it takes to make it happen.

The man who doesn't want to be defined as one thing, it's Jeremey Shropshire. He's an entrepreneur, thought-leader, author, and too many other things to contain his greatness. From a young age, he's had the drive to continue to push himself forward. No amount of negativity from his circumstance or environment could hold him from achieving higher goals. 

We got the opportunity to speak about things in the Black community, being an entrepreneur, and how long it's been since we've been together in 6th grade. This is a man who I got to know personally along my journey as a child. We pushed one another further, we held each other accountable. This is a man to know.

That's it. We've found it. There's just no excuse to not take the leap ! 

We got the opportunity to interview Vanessa Gonzalez, and WOAH talk about a juggling act. Can you imagine being a single mother who believes in standing up for the rights of underserved people? Oh, and as a little cherry on top, you're an immigration attorney responsible for saving the lives of the people who deserve it the most. 

Vanessa grew up in Wisconsin, Japan, and North Carolina. She's practiced immigration law for 8 years, and has owned her own practice for 4 years. 

This is a woman who started her business out of a need to escape the status quo. She believes she is worth more to the community as her own woman and not an employee who is overworked and under appreciated. 

That is her difference maker. 

She's an unstoppable force that will not lay down easily. Whether it's in the court room or starting her own successful law practice, this is a woman who stands behind her word.

Austin Rogers is the Founder of the Wilmington Based Company, Industree.

From early years spent helping his grandparents on the farm, Austin learned the meaning of work ethic. That mindset is what propelled him into starting his own environmental fashion brand. 

While Austin recollects that his journey was filled with issues of mental struggles, his environment is what helped him see the other side. We spoke about the value of keeping positive energy in your circle. On top of a positive environment, Austin wanted to highlight the internet. "Google and the internet is such a powerful tool, it can help you find a brighter place within your mind, or even help you start a business."

When Austin started his company, he was a digital designer. Everything he learned, he taught himself. Everything he does, he learned on his own. With a little bit of support, everyone can find something that makes them passionate.

This week it’s Elizabeth Montgomery. 

Did you know a journalist from ATL can speak Japanese?

Elizabeth tells her story through a lens of persistence. Not giving up and moving forward should be her middle name. She takes us from her youth of watching her father in journalism, to battling the streets while homeless. This is a woman who has seen it all and knows where she belongs. 

Did you know she got the opportunity to meet celebrities such as Usher, Babyface, and Kevin Hart? Yet, she still chooses to interview people who often do not get the spotlight. That’s that makes her different !

Her big take away is to “”Never Give Up”.

This episode weighed heavy on my heart. For such an enthusiastic man, he’s got a story that will make your eyes water. ⁣

We spent the better half of an hour, laughing and working through his story. From his lowest points to his current elated state of reaching and creating doodles. ⁣

⁣

The biggest take away I had from this episode is to smile more. There’s so much beauty in the world, so much we have to be thankful for. ⁣
