March 2025 Audio Summary of Intersection Magazine

In this first month there are a few ideas that we are pursuing for this year and that we believe might drive the agenda for the year.

The first is an article published in WIRED magazine and written by John Carlin quite some time back in the late nineties. Titled hashtag#farewelltoarms (a tribute to previous titles and authors) the author makes a compelling case for an age to come when wars will be fought on a different hashtag#scale and on very new hashtag#platforms. Long before the major shift takes place to computerization he foresaw a time when all these systems would be hashtag#vulnerable to hashtag#attack. We handle the first part of this insightful piece. If you wish to see what it means we suggest you watch Live Free or Die Hard. This film was released 10 years after the wired article.

We also share a post written on X by Shu Nyatta (Shu is in charge of a venture firm based in Latin America) and shares some ideas about what his group Bicycle Capital is doing and the outlook as he see it in this promising market. We see LatAm as a rather promising region with quite a lot of similarities with Africa South of the Sahara.

In our interview section we revisit Tanzania and Zanzibar this time with a conversation on the region with someone well invested in the space. We met Latifa Mkwawa on a Leadership Development and Mentorship Class with Farouk Khailann (First Cohort 2024).

Our book review and recommendation is taken from the books we (Mentees from Farouk Khaillan’s School) all received as students of the first cohort and covers the Subject of hashtag#Character. The bedrock of all traits that determines quite a lot for those who hope to lead and make an impact.

In light of the theme (security) we have also reviewed two series both quite well done in the area of spy fiction although one of them helps strengthen the ideas we shared from John Carlin’s trend setting piece.

Quite a lot hinges on the results of the US election. So we devote the last section on some ideas that I derived after watching the process a that led to the election as well as a few metrics that have proved useful over the years. This time though I wanted to highlight the work of FBS Inc.-a new App I am trying out that in my view almost called the result of the US election with some analysis about the markets.
