We begin looking at “hope”, by considering the suffering of Jesus at the conclusion of his earthly ministry. John 18 begins (what is referred to as) the passion of Christ. Jesus’ passion was his willingness to suffer for the kingdom of God. This is the connection between the cross and the kingdom. The King had to suffer. We don’t stand before God through our own strength, but through the strength of Jesus Christ. This is Good News!
