A Word That We Shun

Pastor Swanson begins his message with the following:

Has someone ever told you that "We just don’t talk about that or about him/her in our family!"

There are also many words and topics that people hesitate to talk about within culture and society. . . subjects that are taboo. . . such as certain social topics.

Today, such topics might include racism, gender, sexuality, religion, and even politics.

Why do we hesitate to bring these topics up in conversation? We hesitate because we do not want to invite criticism or condemnation.

Another word that has almost been redefined out of culture but is ever so relevant in our personal, cultural and societal conversations is the word. . .

Sin

While sin might be a shunned word in our so-called enlightened day, it is a word everyone needs to understand.

Why is that?

Because the way we view and react to the discussion of sin makes a difference for all of our eternity.
