This Sunday, Pastor Greg continues the series Jonah & the City: The Relentless Love of God with a message titled “The Runaway.” The story of Jonah reminds us how easy it is to resist God’s leading. Sometimes we do not want to go where God is calling us, do what He is asking us to do, or give up what He is asking us to surrender. Like Jonah, our instinct can be to go the other direction and run from what God has placed before us.

Yet Scripture reminds us that running from God never truly takes us away from Him. Psalm 139 declares that no matter where we go—whether to the heights of heaven or the depths of the grave—God is already there. His presence surrounds us, His hand guides us, and His strength sustains us. Even in the darkest places of life, we cannot hide from His Spirit or escape His loving pursuit.

The good news is that God’s pursuit of us is not driven by judgment but by His relentless love. Instead of running away from Him, we are invited to turn around and run toward Him. When we stop fleeing and begin surrendering, we discover that God has been guiding us all along, calling us back to His presence, His purpose, and His grace.
