Margaret D. Hunsche, 96, formerly of Rising City, died Thursday, December 25, 2025 at the Butler County Health Care Center in David City.

Margaret Deloris Hunsche was born June 30, 1929 to George and Mabel (Harris) McMeekin in Columbus, Nebraska. She grew up on a farm near Rising City. Margaret attended Blue Mound Rural School and graduated from Rising City High School in 1947. After attending Midland College studying education, she went on to teach 10 years in a country school near Rising City and "loved every minute of it." Margaret married her high school sweetheart, Phillip Hunsche in the United Methodist Church of Rising City on October 23, 1955. Three children, Mark, Marvis and Marla were born to this union.
Margaret was the longest living member of the United Methodist Church of Rising City, where she had also at one time taught sunday school. Margaret was the founder/leader of the 4-H club, West Butler Go Getters. Although she had various jobs throughout her life, none brought her more happiness and fulfillment than working side by side with her husband Phillip on their farm near Rising City, and raising her family. Margaret and Phillip enjoyed traveling and country music festivals when not busy on the farm. Margaret is survived by her son Mark Hunsche of Bellwood, daughters Marvis Hunsche of Salina, Kansas, Marla Hunsche Svoboda of Rising City. Grandchildren Matthew (Chesna) Bruckner of Wichita, Kansas, Andrew (Jordan) Bruckner of Yuma, Arizona, Bryan (Lexi Proffitt) of Overland Park, Kansas, Steven (Elizabeth) Svoboda of Lincoln, Megan (fiance Jonathan Marshall) Svoboda of Kansas City, Kansas, Melissa (fiance Brendan Libbey) Svoboda of Ankeny, Iowa, Miles Svoboda of Vermillion, South Dakota, Great grandchildren Braylee and Ainsley Bruckner, Hadley and Huxley Svoboda, Hollyn Rae Svoboda and Reid Marshall. Brother David (Cindy) McMeekin, family friend Jim Svoboda as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband Phillip, parents George and Mabel McMeekin, Step father David McMeekin, parents-in-law Fred and Edna Hunsche, sister & brothers-in-law Gilbert (Loris) Rerucha, Lloyd (Phyllis) Suhr, Tom Perry and her beloved sister Mary Lou Perry. Margaret lived a long and fulfilling life for over 96 years which earned her the privilege to say "been there, done that!"
