03.01.2020 - By Join Denny Krahe, AKA Diz, as he talks with a variety of runners about running, life, and everything in between.
Maria Papalia-Meier was training for her first half marathon when what she thought was the flu turned out to be something much more serious.
She was ultimately diagnosed with septic shock, which is life-threateningly serious, but she was able to pull through and survive her brush with death. She did, however, lose all of her toes.
Maria recently published a memoir in which she chronicles her recovery from sepsis and her unwillingness to accept the news that she would never be able to run again.
