Marie Sklodowska Curie a grandi en Pologne, à Varsovie, qui était occupé par la Russie dans ce temps-là. Elle était une étudiante brillante à l’école et elle était particulièrement bonne en science. Malheureusement, c’était interdit pour les femmes d’aller à l’université. Alors, elle a économisé de l’argent en travaillant en tant que professeur et babysitter, elle a pu déménager à Paris pour étudier à la célèbre université de la Sorbonne. Là-bas, elle a reçu un diplôme en mathématiques et un autre en physique et a rencontré Pierre Curie, l’homme qui a partagé son coeur, sa vie et sa passion pour la science avec elle.
Ensemble, ils formaient une excellente équipe scientifique et ont gagné le prix Nobel de physique en 1903 en compagnie de Henri Becquerel. Malheureusement, Pierre Curie est mort trois ans plus tard et a laissé sa femme Marie complètement dévastée. Elle s’est donc concentrée sur la recherche scientifique et a gagné un autre prix Nobel, cette fois en chimie. Elle est la seule personne jusqu’à maintenant à avoir gagné un prix Nobel dans deux catégories différentes, la physique et la chimie.
Ses découvertes scientifiques ont changé le monde et ont, plus tard, facilité beaucoup d’autres découvertes technologiques.

Marie Sklodowska Curie has grown up in Poland, in Warsaw, that was occupied by Russia at the time. She was a brilliant student at school and she was particularly good in science. Unfortunately, it was forbidden for women to go to university. So, she saved some money working as a professor and babysitter, she has been able to move to Paris to study in the famous university of the Sorbonne. There, she has received a diploma in maths and another in physics and has met Pierre Curie, the man that has shared his heart, his life and his passion for science with her.
Together, they formed an excellent scientific team and have won the physics Nobel prize in 1903 along with Henri Becquerel. Unfortunately, Pierre Curie is dead three years later and has left his wife Marie devastated. She was thus focused on scientific research and has won another Nobel prize, this time in chemistry. She is the only person until now to have won a Nobel prize in two different categories, physics and chemistry.
Her scientific discoveries have changed the world and have later facilitated many other technological discoveries.
