STORY 2:   Vision To Learn Summer Break 2025 at Cobb Libraries 

Nine Cobb County Public Library locations will host Vision To Learn mobile clinics in June and July, offering free eye exams and glasses for children ages 5-18. Registration is required, and space is limited. Clinics run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on scheduled dates at various libraries, including South Cobb, Gritters, Switzer, and more. STORY 3:  Legislators Talk Healthcare, Housing at Senior Forum 

Dozens of Cobb County seniors gathered Tuesday in Marietta to discuss healthcare, housing, and aging in place with 12 state lawmakers. Officials highlighted efforts like House Bill 399, which targets out-of-state investors inflating housing costs, and proposed legislation to cap rent increases for seniors and veterans. Medicaid access sparked debate, with some criticizing Georgia’s limited expansion and work requirements. Lawmakers also addressed elder abuse prevention and improving senior care facility standards. With Georgia’s senior population expected to exceed 20% by 2030, legislators pledged continued advocacy in the next session starting January 2026.

Early voting is underway for Cobb County’s District 2 and 4 Board of Commissioners seats, with 2,149 votes cast as of Tuesday afternoon. Voting sites include the Cobb Elections Main Office, Smyrna Community Center, South Cobb Community Center, and Old Clarkdale Park Community Center, open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through April 25. Key issues for voters include diversity, equity, and inclusion, with candidates Erick Allen (D) and Alicia Adams (R) vying for District 2, and Monique Sheffield (D) facing Matthew Hardwick (R) in District 4. Election Day is April 29, with assigned polling locations required. 

STORY 5:  Cobb School Board to Hear $1.86 Billion Budget 

Cobb Superintendent Chris Ragsdale will present a proposed $1.86 billion budget at Thursday’s school board meeting. Public comments on the tentative budget can be made at the 6:30 p.m. meeting at 514 Glover Street, with final approval set for May 15. Board members are eager to review funding for “failing” schools and federal programs. The board will also vote on several expenditures, including $15.9M for a new tech academy, $19M for Tapp Middle renovations, $3.2M for playground upgrades, $1.7M for buses, and $450K for K-9 officers. Additional items include a $439K scoreboard and $50K for band uniforms.

STORY 6:  Marietta Church Serves as Filming Location for Hulu’s ‘Murdaugh Murders’ Show 

A Hulu limited series, *Murdaugh Murders*, based on the true story of Alex Murdaugh’s crimes, was filmed Tuesday at St. James Episcopal Church near Marietta Square. The series stars Patricia Arquette as Maggie Murdaugh and Jason Clarke as Alex Murdaugh, drawing from journalist Mandy Matney’s reporting and podcast. Filming involved lane closures on Church Street, with scenes shot inside the church. Marietta City Manager Bill Bruton hinted at more productions coming to the city soon. 

STORY 7:  Braves Install New Garden Towers at Truist Park 

To celebrate Earth Day, the Atlanta Braves installed eight garden towers at Truist Park to grow plants for ballpark food items. Two towers, ready for harvest this week, will provide lettuce and herbs, with a plan to yield 56 plants weekly. Excess produce will support the Braves' food donation program in partnership with Second Helpings Atlanta, aiding the community. STORY 1:   Pair Charged with Spray Paint Tagging Multiple Marietta Locations 

Joshua Sullivan, 37, and Dylan Hall, 29, were arrested on April 9 for spray-painting 14 locations at the Delray Diner in Marietta, including politically charged messages like “F--- Trump” and “Israelites are evil.” Damages exceeded $500, and they also tagged a gas meter and bus stop awning. A police officer witnessed the pair tagging and taking a selfie. Both face charges including criminal damage and interference with government property. They were released on April 10 on $10,000 bonds. 

STORY 2:  Root House Plant Sale and Antique Market Returns April 26 

The annual Root House Plant Sale & Antique Market will take place on April 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the William Root House in Marietta. The event features antique and vintage items, heirloom and native Georgia plants, and fresh bouquets from Emma's Flower Truck. An exclusive preview sale is available on April 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. for $10, with tickets sold online at RootHouseMuseum.com/PlantSale. 

STORY 3:   Cobb Sheriff's Employee Charged with Child Molestation, Fired 

Ivan Munoz, 44, a longtime Cobb County Sheriff’s Office employee, was fired after being arrested on two felony counts of aggravated child molestation. Munoz is accused of assaulting an 8-year-old girl twice in one day and is being held without bond. Sheriff Craig Owens terminated Munoz immediately upon learning of the charges, condemning the behavior as egregious and contrary to law enforcement values. Munoz had been with the department since 2000 as a criminal justice specialist.

STORY 4:  Silver Comet Connector to Close Gap Between Cobb and Beltline 

Cobb County is set to complete a one-mile segment of the Silver Comet Connector by July, linking the trail to the Chattahoochee River along Atlanta Road. Part of a larger PATH Foundation project, the Silver Comet Trail will eventually connect Atlanta to Alabama by 2026. Cobb’s $8 million contribution includes trail construction, bridge repairs, and road upgrades. Once finished, the trail will accommodate walkers, runners, and bikers, offering a seamless connection to the Atlanta Beltline. Local resident Alan Adams looks forward to enjoying the extended trail’s natural beauty. 

STORY 5:    Easter Sunrise Service Returns to Kennesaw Mountain This Sunday 

 Piedmont Church and the Marietta Rotarian Club will host their annual Easter Sunrise Service this Sunday at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Led by Pastor Dr. Ike Reighard, the service begins at 6:45 a.m. as the sun rises. Attendees should bring chairs or blankets for seating on the lawn near the Visitor’s Center. STORY 1:   Strand Theatre to Have Auditions for Jukebox Giants: Motown & More 

The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta is holding video auditions for *Jukebox Giants: Motown & More*, a high-energy musical revue featuring classic soul and R&B hits. Open to ages 18+, auditions require both a vocal video (under 5 minutes with two contrasting songs) and a dance video (four 8-counts of a jazz combo). Submissions, including a headshot, resume, and availability from June 16 to July 27, are due by May 6 via email to [email protected]. Rehearsals start June 16, and performers must be prepared to sing and dance concurrently. 

STORY 2:   UPDATE: Three Arrested at Marjorie Taylor Greene Town Hall in Acworth   

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene's town hall in Acworth turned chaotic, with three arrests, two taser incidents, and nine protesters removed. Greene emphasized her support for Trump’s agenda, immigration crackdowns, and banning gender-affirming care for minors. She addressed economic concerns, urging families to "rein in" spending, and dismissed claims about Medicare cuts. Protesters criticized her policies, while Greene defended her positions, including the Protect Children's Innocence Act and the Laken Riley Act. Despite disruptions, Greene answered pre-submitted questions, mostly from supportive constituents, and highlighted the growth of the MAGA movement. 

STORY 3: Carr Launches 'Operation Hold the Line' to Combat Transnational Gangs in Georgia 

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr launched "Operation Hold the Line" in Cobb County, a taskforce uniting local, state, and federal agencies to combat transnational gangs, human trafficking, and fentanyl distribution. Inspired by President Trump’s call to action, the initiative builds on Carr’s anti-gang network, established in 2017, and includes federal partners like the FBI and ICE. Carr highlighted the role of transnational gangs in organized retail theft and illicit activities, citing recent successes like shutting down 35 massage parlors linked to gangs. The effort aims to strengthen partnerships and intensify the fight against violent crime in Georgia.

STORY 4:  Mt. Bethel Academy to Receive Tax-Free Bonds for Expansion 

The Development Authority of Cobb County approved up to $50 million in tax-exempt bonds to help Mt. Bethel Christian Academy expand its upper school campus in east Cobb. The project aims to accommodate up to 625 middle and high school students by replacing temporary classrooms with permanent buildings, upgrading athletic facilities, and adding a dining hall. The school plans to move middle grades to the upper campus as its lease for the lower campus ends in 2028. While the bond pricing is pending market conditions, the expansion is expected to create 14-16 jobs in five years, though some board members questioned its alignment with the authority's mission. 

STORY 5:  Kemp signs two tax cut bills 

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed two tax relief bills on Tax Day. House Bill 111 reduces the state income tax rate from 5.39% to 5.19%, retroactive to the start of the tax year, while House Bill 112 provides one-time rebates: $250 for single filers, $375 for heads of households, and $500 for joint filers. While the rebate bill passed unanimously, Democrats criticized HB 111, arguing it favors higher-income earners. Kemp defended the measures, emphasizing taxpayer control over their money. The signing event, held at the Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre, was attended by state leaders and lawmakers.

STORY 6:  Marietta Woman Charged with Payroll Theft 

Claudia Patricia Angulo, a Marietta bookkeeper, is accused of stealing $46,167.68 from Tile Media Properties (The Tile Doctor) between November 2023 and September 2024. According to a Cobb County arrest warrant, Angulo allegedly issued herself around 20 extra payroll deposits via QuickBooks and attempted to conceal the theft by moving records to another computer file. She faces charges of theft by taking (over $1,500) and computer theft but does not currently appear in jail records. 

STORY 7:  UPDATE: Rep. Seabaugh Takes Plea Deal in DUI Case 

State Rep. Devan Seabaugh pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors—failure to yield to a bicyclist and driving too fast for conditions—stemming from a 2024 car wreck in Atlanta. DUI charges were dropped as part of a plea deal. Seabaugh was fined $2,866, sentenced to 40 hours of community service, and must complete a DUI course, a victim impact panel, and a clinical evaluation. The incident involved Seabaugh driving into an unmarked bike lane, striking a bicycle, and causing minor injuries to the cyclist. Seabaugh denied intoxication, citing a single beer hours prior, and expressed gratitude no one was seriously hurt.

STORY 1:   Marietta Adds 11 Apartments to Development at Former Harry's Site 

The Marietta City Council approved changes to the Marietta Crossing development, adding 11 apartments for a total of 247 units at the former Harry’s Farmer’s Market site. After much debate and a veto from Mayor Steve Tumlin, the council voted 4-3 in favor of full residential use for one building, citing challenges in attracting commercial tenants. The developer argued the weak retail market made the change necessary. The site will also include 39 townhomes, with most being three stories tall. The decision reflects ongoing efforts to balance housing needs and market realities in the area. 

STORY 2:  UPDATE: Six Arrested After Shooting, Police Chase in Marietta 

Six men, aged 18-23, were arrested after a shooting at Lakeside at Town Center Apartments in Marietta led to a police chase. The suspects, armed with handguns and an AK-47-style rifle, allegedly fired at two victims, Deshawn Hirsch and Miykael Davis, who were injured but later discharged from the hospital. The suspects fled in a BMW, crashing during a police pursuit. Multiple apartments and vehicles were damaged by gunfire, and police are investigating if others were involved. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Marietta Police or submit anonymous tips. 

STORY 3:   Atlanta Rhythm Section to Perform at Strand Theatre 

Fans of 70s rock can catch the Atlanta Rhythm Section (ARS) at the Strand Theatre in Marietta on Friday, April 18, as part of the Homegrown Georgia Songwriter concert series. Known for hits like “Imaginary Lover” and “So Into You,” ARS blends Southern rock with jazz and blues influences. Led by original member Rodney Justo, the band cherishes intimate venues like the Strand for audience connection. Justo, who rejoined ARS in 2011 after retiring, promises a setlist of classics and hidden gems. Limited tickets remain, starting at $69, with the show beginning at 8 p.m.

STORY 4:  First-year KSU Student, Author Recognized as Versed Local Historian 

At just 19, Andrew Bramlett, a history student at Kennesaw State University, has already made a significant impact as a historian. A former vice president of the Kennesaw Historical Society at age 10, he now serves on the Kennesaw Historic Preservation Commission. Bramlett has earned accolades like KSU's Undergraduate Research Award and the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council award. He’s published articles, led tours at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, and unveiled historical storyboards. Known for his research skills and passion for history, Bramlett also assists with rare book collections at KSU, continuing to inspire with his dedication to preserving local history. 

STORY 5:    'A Conversation Starter': Marietta Super on State Phone Ban 

 Georgia's "Distraction-Free Education Act" (HB 340), awaiting Gov. Brian Kemp's signature, would ban cellphone use in public schools for grades K-8 starting July 2026. Schools must adopt policies by January 2026 but can choose how to enforce the ban. Marietta City Schools already uses Yondr pouches to restrict phone access in middle schools and is considering expanding the policy. Superintendent Grant Rivera sees the bill as a statewide acknowledgment of the issue, sparking broader discussions, including potential high school bans. Cobb County schools, however, prefer a flexible, teacher-led approach to managing devices.

STORY 1:   ‘Bound to Work’: Marietta Eyes Relocation of Downtown Dumpsters 

After over a decade of debate, Marietta city officials are advancing plans to relocate three city-owned dumpsters near Marietta Square. Public Works Director Mark Rice presented two options, with the council favoring Option B, which would move the dumpsters into an enclosure in First Baptist Church’s parking lot and make Root Street one-way, adding nine parking spaces. The council voted unanimously to move the plan forward, with final traffic flow and parking details to be determined later. Mayor Tumlin and others expressed optimism about the long-awaited solution. 

STORY 2:     Austell Dance Team's Trailer Containing Props, Set Pieces Stolen Before Competition 

Lisa’s Dance Spot (LDS) in Austell is seeking help to locate their stolen cargo trailer, taken on March 24. The trailer, loaded with props for their competitive dance team’s Michael Jackson-themed routine, was last seen via Flock cameras heading toward downtown Atlanta. Despite the theft, the team rebuilt their sets overnight with the help of dedicated “Prop Dads” and went on to win first place at a regional competition. Studio founder Lisa Pillow praised the team’s resilience and community support. Anyone with information is urged to contact Austell Police. 

STORY 3:  Cobb Moves Toward Consolidating Commuter Bus Routes, Nixing Free Loop 

Cobb County is considering eliminating the free CobbLinc Green Circulator near The Battery and consolidating commuter routes with the Atlanta-region Transit Link Authority’s 484 Xpress Route. The Board of Commissioners voted 4-0 to begin public feedback on these changes, which aim to improve efficiency amid declining ridership. Adjustments to the Blue Circulator route are also proposed. Public hearings are set for April 22, with a final vote on May 13 after the District 2 commissioner seat is filled. CobbLinc’s 2023 operations cost $30.85 million, with funding from federal, county, and fare revenues.

STORY 4:  Marietta to Consider Changes to Development at Former Harry’s Site 

The Marietta City Council is reviewing changes to the Marietta Crossing development, which includes 236 apartments and 39 townhomes. Developer Westplan Investors seeks to convert 10,000 square feet of retail space into either live/work units or full residential, citing weak retail demand. If approved, the project would add 12 apartments, totaling 248. Councilmembers are divided, with some favoring all-residential for safety and market reasons, while others believe residential could support retail. The council is also reviewing revised plans for the townhomes, with most being three stories and a few two stories. Final decisions are expected this week. 

STORY 5:  YMCA of Metro Atlanta’s to Host 62nd Annual Good Friday Breakfast 

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta will host its 62nd Annual Good Friday Breakfast on April 18 at the Cobb Galleria Centre, celebrating its mission of fostering healthy spirit, mind, and body. Kevin Greiner, CEO of Gas South, will receive the Bransby Christian Leadership Award for his impactful community service and Gas South’s $1.3 million in support. Their contributions have enhanced YMCA programs like Adaptive Swim, benefiting over 400 participants, and STEAM Labs, inspiring creativity and education. STORY 6:  Driver’s License Deadline Approaching 

Starting May 7, U.S. travelers will need a REAL ID or other federally approved identification to board domestic flights. Georgia began issuing REAL ID-compliant licenses in 2012, but those who recently moved or haven’t renewed their license should check for a gold or black star in the upper right corner of their ID. If it’s missing, schedule an appointment with the Department of Driver Services to avoid long lines as the deadline approaches. REAL ID enhances security to combat terrorism and identity fraud, requiring an in-person application for first-time compliance.

STORY 1:   Cobb Tables Proposed 24-Townhome Development 

The Cobb County Planning Commission delayed a decision on a proposed 24-townhome development at 2318 Powder Springs Road until May 6, citing concerns over stormwater management, parking, and road design. The applicant, Fort & Cole Street, plans two-story, craftsman-style homes with garages and a homeowners association. Cobb DOT raised issues with driveway spacing and private alley design, while the fire department questioned emergency vehicle access. A Cobb Schools representative opposed the project due to potential enrollment impacts at Osborne High. The commission seeks further input from the stormwater division before proceeding. 

STORY 2:     Federal judge sides with Georgia in 'water wars' with Alabama 

Georgia secured another victory in its "water wars" as a federal judge upheld the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' 2021 decision to allocate more water from Lake Allatoona to meet metro Atlanta and Bartow County's needs. Alabama had challenged the decision, claiming it over-allocated water to Georgia, but the court found negligible impacts on Alabama's water needs. This ruling brings clarity after decades of litigation. Georgia also won a similar case against Florida in 2021 regarding water use from the Chattahoochee and Flint rivers. 

STORY 3:  Cobb PARKS Spring Arts Festival is April 26 

The Cobb PARKS Spring Arts Festival will take place on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta. STORY 4:  Georgia Bird Fest Returns for 2025 

The 10th annual Georgia Bird Fest runs from April 11 to May 16, featuring over 40 events statewide, including canoe trips, birding weekends, and workshops. STORY 5:    'A Long Process': Marietta Cuts Ribbon on Powder Springs Streetscape 

 Marietta celebrated the completion of its $12 million Powder Springs Street makeover with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The project, funded by 1% sales tax referendums, includes new sidewalks, landscaped medians, decorative lighting, and re-timed traffic signals, improving safety and traffic flow. Travel time has been reduced by up to two minutes, even during rush hour. The upgrades also feature a trail connecting to the Mountain to River Trail and aesthetic enhancements like matching stonework. Begun in 2021, the project faced delays due to supply chain issues but is now a key gateway to downtown Marietta. Future streetscape projects are planned.

STORY 1:   Lawmakers decide to ban cellphones in public elementary and middle schools 

Starting next fall, Georgia's "Distraction-Free Education Act" will ban personal cellphone use in public elementary and middle schools, following overwhelming legislative support. The bill, awaiting Governor Brian Kemp's signature, requires students to lock up devices during school hours, with exceptions for medical or disability-related needs. The move addresses concerns about technology's impact on children, echoing global trends like bans in Australia and France. Proponents argue the ban reduces distractions and improves student well-being, while critics worry about communication during emergencies. Discussions may extend the ban to high schools in the future, reflecting ongoing debates about technology's role in education. 

STORY 2:     Kennesaw Grand Prix 5K Series Returns For 2025 

The 2025 Kennesaw Grand Prix 5K series returns with four races on a fast, USATF-certified course through downtown Kennesaw and Swift-Cantrell Park. Part of the Fit City Kennesaw initiative, the series caters to competitive runners, beginners, and families, offering a festival-like atmosphere. Races start at Kennesaw First Baptist Church, with a one-mile fun run, 5K, and Tot Trot, followed by awards. The schedule includes races in April, June, September, and October, with early bird pricing and a custom gift for full-series registrants. STORY 3:  'We can't do our jobs': Some Cobb Servers Still Down After 'Unusual Activity' Spotted 

Cobb County is grappling with server issues after detecting unusual activity, which officials hesitate to label as a "hack." Several servers were taken offline for maintenance, disrupting internet access, email, and online systems across county offices, including courts and police. Court filings and payments are being processed manually, and employees report limited communication about the situation. Superior Court Clerk Connie Taylor advised bringing hard copies for upcoming hearings, while electronic payments remain paused. Officials hope to restore all servers today, but the disruptions have significantly impacted daily operations.

STORY 4:  Cobb Staff Wants 290 More Employees, $93 Million Boost in 2026 Budget 

Cobb County's proposed 2026 fiscal year budget includes a $92.7 million increase, largely driven by requests for 290 new full-time positions, down from last year’s 380. Key requests include 113 positions for the Sheriff’s Office as part of a $27 million budget and an $8.8 million increase for Cobb Police. Commissioner Keli Gambrill raised concerns about potential duplication of services. Public hearings on the budget and millage rate are scheduled for late June and July, with a final vote expected after the last hearing. Adjustments may be needed due to the 2025 MLB All-Star Game. 

STORY 5:  KSU Assistant Professor Receives National Honor for Mentorship in Oncology Nursing 

Kennesaw State University assistant professor Chinomso Nwozichi has received the prestigious Connie Henke Yarbro Excellence in Cancer Nursing Mentorship Award from the Oncology Nursing Foundation. Honored for his dedication to mentoring future oncology nurses, Nwozichi has made significant contributions to cancer care and education globally. Since joining KSU in 2023, he has published extensively, mentored undergraduate researchers, and advanced oncology nursing education as president of the Oncology Nursing Society of Nigeria. His work emphasizes evidence-based care, leadership, and advocacy, earning him recognition as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

STORY 6:  Dobbins Names Kennesaw Mountain Senior Airman for a Day 

Kennesaw Mountain High School senior Joseph Owens, a former patient at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, was named Airman for a Day by the U.S. Air Force’s 700th Airlift Squadron. The event, part of a partnership with Children’s Healthcare, gave Joseph a hands-on experience at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, including fire rescue training, a mock traffic stop, and trying on pilot safety gear. Adopted from Uganda, Joseph overcame severe ear infections and hearing loss with years of treatment, culminating in restored hearing. Now planning to join the U.S. Marine Corps, Joseph said the experience motivates him for his future military career. 

STORY 7:  Tommy Nobis Center Hosts 27th Annual Galaxy of Stars Luncheon 

The Tommy Nobis Center will host its 27th Annual Galaxy of Stars Luncheon on April 25 at the Cobb Energy Centre, celebrating individuals with disabilities and community leaders who support them. This year’s theme, "Empowered," underscores TNC’s mission to help individuals achieve their career goals. Honorees include Kim Menefee (Lifetime Achievement Award), Laura and Eric Hart (Community Champions Award), and Nolan Wilson (Rising Star Award). The event features an online auction starting April 4, with proceeds funding programs for youth and adults with disabilities. Cobb EMC Foundation is the Presenting Sponsor.

STORY 1:   Two Rescued in Powder Springs Trench Collapse

Two workers were rescued after a trench collapse at a Powder Springs construction site on Wednesday. Cobb Fire crews responded around 4 p.m. to 5001 Hill Rd., where one worker had freed themselves, while the other remained trapped waist-deep. Specially-trained rescue teams used a concrete silo and shovels to free the second victim. Both individuals were transported to Kennestone Hospital in stable condition. The cause of the collapse is still under investigation.

STORY 2:  Cobb Sheriff's Office Bloodhound Retires

After over five years of service, K-9 Shax, a seven-year-old bloodhound with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, retired in a heartfelt ceremony. Trained in tracking human odor, Shax began his career in 2019 and was instrumental in locating 16 individuals and assisting in 43 other cases across 119 deployments. Honored with treats, toys, a new bed, and a plaque, Shax was celebrated for his contributions to public safety. Now retired, he will live with his handler, Deputy Barry Bales, enjoying a well-deserved life of relaxation and care.

STORY 3:   Man Charged with Firing Gun While Drunk at Delk Road Hotel

James Edward Johnson, 27, of Atlanta, was arrested for firing four shots at another man while intoxicated during an altercation at The Courtyard Marriott in Marietta on March 8. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. after Johnson intervened in a domestic dispute, engaged in a fistfight, and later retrieved a gun to confront the man again. A breath test confirmed alcohol in his system. Charged with discharging a weapon under the influence, Johnson was arrested at 5 a.m. and remains in custody on a $10,000 bond.

STORY 4:  KSU Breaks Ground on $50 Million Dorm

Kennesaw State University broke ground on a $50 million residence hall, "Summit II," to address growing on-campus housing needs. The 97,000-square-foot facility will add 462 beds, primarily for freshmen, and is set to open by fall 2026. With nearly 48,000 students enrolled, KSU is Georgia's third-largest university, but on-campus housing remains limited, with fewer than 6,000 beds available. The project is part of KSU's master plan to add 1,500 beds across its campuses. Officials highlighted the benefits of on-campus living, including improved retention and community building, especially for first-year students.

STORY 5:   Cobb Inmate Charged with Battery of Deputy

 Christopher Brian McNeal, 34, of Marietta, faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a deputy at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on March 12. During an insulin call, McNeal resisted being escorted, lunged at the deputy, and pulled him down, causing the deputy to fall and injure his knee. McNeal then mounted the deputy and attempted to strike him before being tased. He is charged with aggravated battery, obstruction, mutiny, and unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution. McNeal remains in custody without bond.
