  • MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS and How Soon is too Soon for Spoilers?

We hope we have given you dear listeners plenty of time to be spoiled on your on for our discussion on MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS... but if not, well apparently it was a book or something for a few years. Which leads our co-hosts Dave and Jessi to discuss spoiler culture and how long do we have to cater to those ignorant fools at the watercooler who have managed to avoid that Sopranos finale? As usual the answers lie within a couple of other podcasts as we recommend THE DELETED SCENE PODCAST and SILVER SCREEN SNOBS. But most importantly we recommend that you hit that play button.

  • THOR: RAGNAROK/SUBURBICON and Filmmakers Playing in Another's Sandbox

On this episode we are inspired not so much by the latest cinematic offerings in THOR: RAGNAROK and SUBURBICON but from a conversation on the great BAD FEMINIST FILM CLUB podcast about coming to terms with different filmmakers realigning characters in a franchise to their own individual creative sensibilities. And while this has been done with much success in the latest Marvel film which was shepherded by Taika Waititi, previous critical darling George Clooney has taken a beating with his attempt to put his fingerprints on a Coen Bros. script. For that we recommend an episode from WHO SHOT YA? on the idea that Clooney is perhaps too close of a collaborator with the Coens. As usual we come to no conclusions other than Andrew of AB FILM REVIEW wanting no more "unoffical" Coen work hitting the silver screen and Mike of PROJECTING FILM coming to terms with the fact that there's no way to praise Mr. Waititi's work without thinking that his name sounds silly (but pleasant).

  • HAPPY DEATH DAY and Second Chance Cinema

On HAPPY DEATH DAY we celebrate our previous failures (or the rare successes) in film discourse by checking out a couple of other movies podcasts giving cinema a second chance. THE POPCORN MUNCHER evaluate BLADE RUNNER 2049 and re-evaluate the original film and if they can separate the two as an individual work, while the hosts over at EX RATED have hopes that history will treat SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD with more kindness than its initial response. So join your hosts Michael Denniston of PROJECTING FILM and David Hart of POP CULTURE CASE STUDY as they discuss films that they have aged better or worse with the common thread that it is always our fault and never the filmmaker.

Films discussed by our hosts coming to terms with their own idiocy:

    • BOYHOOD
    • CARRIE
    • MISERY
    • HIGH FIDELITY
    • MY COUSIN VINNY

    • BLADE RUNNER 2049 & IT and Fan Service

This week, Andrew of AB FILM REVIEW and Jairo of THE TRUE BROMANCE FILM PODCAST take their rightful places in the roles of film producers as they lend their incredible insight into what truly pleases hardcore fans of existing properties. Inspired by the conversations on the ONE PERFECT POD and BOOK vs. MOVIE podcasts, Jairo and Andrew dig into two of this year's most anticipated fan service films, IT and BLADE RUNNER 2049, and discuss the positives and negatives of fan service.

    • mother! & A GHOST STORY and Divisive Film

On this episode Andrew of AB FILM REVIEW and Michael of PROJECTING FILM try to heal the divide on Film Twitter with an episode on the charming MOTHER! and light hearted A GHOST STORY. To do so we highlight some of the great discussion currently being had on other movie podcasts POP CULTURE CASE STUDY and THE FINAL CUT in regards to these divisive films and the debate they encourage among cinephiles. As with everything else on the internet, this debate remains polite, engaging, and we reserve our insults for those that can't talk back.

But if you would like to talk back, here we are!

    • STAND BY ME and Nostalgia for Summer Movie Season

It's our very first episode and we are already feeling nostalgic for our past. To do so we take a look at the summer movie classic STAND BY ME, while crediting the INDOORSWOMEN PODCAST and PODSTALGIC for kicking off our conversation on the state of summer movie season in 2017 and where we hope it to be in the future. Along the way we debate the merits of the year's biggest critical and box office hit WONDER WOMAN, an 80s update to Stephen King's IT, and the decision to start with two of the grumpiest film podcasters as the inaugural hosts to this rotating panel show. But for now, it's Jairo from THE TRUE BROMANCE FILM PODCAST, Michael from PROJECTING FILM, and this is MARK AS PLAYED.
