Reading tea leaves is risky business. But that is what many Supreme Court observers are doing in the wake of the oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s health Organization case.

So, what is the case?

Dobbs v. Jackson is a 15-week abortion ban from Mississippi. Dobbs is the most consequential case since Planned Parenthood v. Casey in which the SCOTUS affirmed Roe’s central findings.  At the center of the argument is the viability standard. Viability is now believed to be between at 21-24 weeks, but it is constantly changing and, hence, is not a workable framework.

As the justices of the Supreme Court respond to oral arguments for a case that directly challenges Roe v. Wade, they peddled 5 falsehoods about legalized abortion on demand and constitutional jurisprudence that need addressed.

Would overturning a decision that was admittedly wrong threaten the court’s legitimacy, or help to restore it?

Is the fact that human life begins at conception a mere arbitrary religious viewpoint?

On abortion policy, America has more in common with the North Korea and China regimes than with our friends Britain and France.  If the phrase “you’re only as good as the company you keep” rings true for nations, perhaps too good, our nation must finally scrap Roe v. Wade.

According to the Center for Reproductive Rights (CRR), if Roe v. Wade were overturned, abortion would be illegal in half of the U.S. states and all the U.S. territories.

Based on the CRR’s analysis, if the Supreme Court were to overturn Roe, abortion would remain legal in twenty-one states.  

There are twenty-four states—nearly all of which are situated in the central and southern parts of the country that could immediately prohibit abortion entirely. These states are capable of reviving old abortion bans or the enactment of new ones, and none of them has legal protections for abortion.

Therefore, if Roe falls, states would be divided into abortion deserts, where it would be illegal to access care, and abortion havens, where care would continue to be available.

Most Christians see abortion as a political or educational issue first, and as a spiritual issue second.

From NYC to LA, Mark has led young culture warriors as they directly engage abortion activists, clinic workers, and even abortionists in conversation. As a central Satanist principle states, “one’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will.” The Satanic doctrine of absolute autonomy over one’s own destiny has become the pro-abortion rallying cry of “My Body, My Choice.”

More and more, self-professed Satanists are openly identifying themselves during their pro-abortion work. Those who celebrate death are becoming increasingly committed to an open hatred for and defiance of their Creator.

How to Deal with an Increasingly Totalitarian America | Rod Dreher

On this episode of The Mark Harrington Show, Mark speaks with Rod Dreher, Senior Editor of The American Conservative and author of "The Benedict Option" and "Live Not by Lies."

In his book, Live Not by Lies, Dreher speaks of the rise of soft totalitarianism brought on by identity politics which marginalizes Christians and other dissenters. Dreher also writes about "woke capitalism," which is when major corporations sign on to culturally progressive causes. In a capitalist society like ours, corporations have been much more important than the state in mainstreaming progressive values. Corporations now censor opinions, and technology is bringing us closer to a surveillance state. This kind of system is what every American high school student read about in Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Despite Live Not by Lies being written and released before the COVID outbreak, Dreher has some observations. He believes the COVID vaccine mandates are being used by soft totalitarians to marginalize Christians of conscience who object to the treatment for religious reasons and are a test run for a future social credit system. To Dreher COVID demonstrates the willingness of the masses to believe things they know are untrue, or probably untrue, but that make them feel good.

On the political front, Dreher believes the result in Virginia demonstrates what angry, determined, well-informed parents can do by standing up to lies. But there is also a limit, because of these lies -- the CRT/gender ideology lie -- is so deeply entwined now with institutions that have no accountability to the public. Because of this fact, Dreher does not believe the GOP can save us. In fact, politics generally can't do much to stop it at this point.

Finally, Dreher exhorts us to refuse to pretend that we don't see what is going on, or that we agreed with it. The whole system is a lie, and to the extent that we can, men and women of integrity should refuse to consent or cooperate. We should start right now forming small groups of trusted people we can count on. We should begin educating ourselves about real history, real art, real literature – this, as opposed to the politically correct propaganda versions. Parents need to make sure their families are strong, and that they are teaching their children the importance of living in truth, not conforming to have an easy life.

Most of all, Dreher says we need to learn how to suffer.
