Keturah Dumaine, Eastern Executive Assistant for the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform (CCBR) is my guest on today’s episode where I provide a summary as to why the use of abortion victim photography is critical to ending abortion.

Human faces matter. Our faces are a gift. The human face changes our perception of injustice from indifference to compassion. The human face is what makes a person personal. It is the difference between looking and seeing.

Dr. Monica Miller says, "If the primary purpose of abortion victim photography is to reveal the tragedy of abortion, then the most effective photos will focus on the humanity of the victim."

Abortion workers need physical or psychological distance from the victims, and especially from their human faces.

To kill, abortionists must avoid seeing the face; to end the killing, the human faces of the victims must be seen.

Recently, CCBR adopted photos of the faces of abortion victims that have never been seen on Canadian streets and integrated them into our outreach projects - trucks, pamphlets, and signs.

This summer, CCBR's brand new video truck spent 75 hours on the road bringing abortion victim video to the streets of Canada. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million.

Some argue that the POTUS's view on abortion doesn't matter because the President has little influence over it. This is not true. The president can use the bully pulpit to influence public opinion, curb abortion through executive orders, sign legislation, and nominate pro-life justices to the federal courts.

During the recent GOP presidential debate, candidates made excuses for their unwillingness to act on abortion by stating that the issue is now in the hands of the states to decide. This is a cop-out!

The fact is the US Constitution already protects preborn children.

The 14th Amendment reads:

No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

States have recognized pre-born children as "persons" at all stages of pregnancy. Protection for preborn children was rooted in British Common Law. The authors of the amendment included the preborn as persons.

Despite the battle being mostly in the states currently, that doesn't absolve candidates for president from stating clearly that the federal government has a role to play in outlawing abortion.

 Abortion supporters are attempting to amend Ohio's constitution to remove all protections for preborn children. If passed in November, abortion would be permitted throughout all nine months of pregnancy.

On Tuesday Ohio voters defeated Issue 1 which would have raised the threshold to amend the Ohio constitution to 60%. Now that the special election is over Created Equal is preparing to defeat the pro-abortion constitutional amendment on November 7, 2023.

In this special episode, as a lifelong resident of Ohio and a 25-year veteran activist of the abortion battle, Mark provides an analysis of the defeat and some lessons learned for the upcoming abortion amendment battle.

Defeating the abortion amendment in November will establish an anti-abortion beachhead in Ohio from which we can defeat similar pro-abortion measures in other states in 2024. Because as Ohio goes so goes the nation. The stakes couldn’t be any higher.

While the world may appear increasingly complex, it's worth noting that younger generations of Christians are showing a marked increase in their pro-life convictions. This is evidenced by the higher percentage of anti-abortion advocates among younger evangelicals, in contrast to their older counterparts. Additionally, Mark shares two notable pieces of news:

First, in Indiana, a near-total abortion ban has been enacted. There are exceptions for rape, incest, and lethal fetal anomalies, which constitute only one percent of abortions, but 99% of babies will be saved. This law is a positive step in the ongoing efforts to protect unborn life.

Second, in Beverly Hills, CA, the D.C.-based DuPont Clinic, known for promoting all-trimester abortions, has been denied permission to build. While this might not permanently prevent the clinic from relocating within California, the decision is viewed as a momentary advancement in efforts to protect the unborn.

The Ohio Secretary of State has officially validated all of the signatures that were required to get an extreme pro-abortion initiative on the ballot in November of 2023.

This dangerous, California-style proposal is misleadingly titled, “The Right to Reproductive Freedom with Protections for Health and Safety.” In reality, it would erase the current health and safety standards for mothers and their children, if passed. Here is what this extreme initiative would do:

• Permanently enshrine painful, late-term abortions all the way up until birth in The Ohio Constitution.

And it is all funded by out-of-state special interest groups who want to turn Ohio into California.

In this episode, Mark interviews author Stephen Wolfe, author of The Case for Christian Nationalism.

I just finished his book. It's deep. It's challenging. And I recommend it to anyone interested in Christian political theory. Unfortunately, some Christians who say they don't support what is outlined in the book have never read it. Instead, they often fall for stereotypes about nationalism that the secular media promotes and buy in to the straw man arguments about Christian nationalism from its many detractors.

That said, I believe every Christian who is concerned about the direction of nation/culture should read it. 

Here a few of the questions I ask Stephen:

What is Christian Nationalism?

Is the church called to change the culture?

Is the pursuit of cultural Christianity I replacement for preaching the gospel?

What are the dangers of this view?

Also, read/listen to those who oppose the position written about in this book and by other authors. Only then can you reach a well-informed position.

Dobbs didn't go far enough. The 14th amendment reads:

Like the days of slavery we are now faced with slave states and free states – abortion havens and abortion free states.

States had recognized pre-born children as "persons" at all stages of pregnancy.

When the 14th Amendment was adopted, the states widely recognized pre-born children as "persons" at all stages of pregnancy.

Nearly every state had codified criminal prohibitions by statute. At least 28 jurisdictions labeled abortion as "an offense against the person."

In 23 states and 6 territories, laws referred to the preborn individual as a "child."

The same Ohio legislature that ratified the 14th Amendment, called abortion at any stage "nothing less than child murder."

California, Vermont, and Michigan approved ballot measures enshrining abortion into their state constitutions, while those in the red states of Montana, Kansas, and Kentucky rejected measures that would have restricted abortion.

A 3-Pronged Strategy

Political - Defeat the constitutional amendments. If Ohio goes so goes the nation like Dominoes.

Prophetic – we are truth-tellers, visionaries, warning the nation by taking it take to the streets, etc.

Pragmatic – we need to prepare for the long run - win or lose.
