Market Moves, Manipulated Truths

Listen Later

I’m angry. And you should be too.

Because what happened on April 9th wasn’t just some typical Trump headline — it was a blueprint for how power gets abused right in front of our faces… and we barely blink anymore.

Let’s talk about the facts first. On that day, Donald Trump suddenly announced a 90-day pause on most U.S. tariffs, reducing them to 10% for any country that hadn’t retaliated. That alone would’ve been a big deal — we’re talking about major relief for global markets. But then he took it a step further: he raised tariffs on Chinese imports to 125%. Yes, one hundred and twenty-five percent.

This isn’t just economic policy — this is picking favorites and enemies in real time.

And just hours before that announcement, Trump took to Truth Social and posted this little gem:“THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!!”

And boom — the markets soared. The S&P 500 jumped 5.6%. The Nasdaq rose over 8% — one of the largest single-day gains since World War II.

If that doesn’t sound suspicious to you, read that again.

Now imagine if anyone else — a CEO, an investor, even a TikTok finance bro — had posted something like that right before a market surge. They’d be investigated for manipulation. They might even get charged. But because it’s Trump? We act like it’s normal.

It’s not.

And I’m tired of pretending that this kind of reckless, performative, ego-driven leadership is just “politics as usual.” It’s not leadership — it’s opportunism at the expense of everyone who doesn’t have the luxury of insider knowledge or billionaire immunity.

Senate Republicans seemed relieved by the tariff pause. Democrats were quick to point out how erratic the whole move felt — especially paired with that post. And for once, I’m with the Democrats on this. Because it’s not just erratic. It feels deliberate. It feels dangerous.

More than 75 countries are now scrambling to renegotiate with the U.S. over trade terms, while we play economic roulette with international relations. Meanwhile, back home, everyday Americans are trying to figure out why the cost of groceries, electronics, and cars feels like it’s controlled by a mood swing in Washington.

Let’s not forget: tariffs are taxes. You and I pay them — not China, not foreign governments. Us.

So when Trump plays fast and loose with this kind of policy — when he makes cryptic posts that affect markets before major announcements — that’s not just politics. That’s your retirement account. That’s your rent. That’s your future.

And I can’t stay quiet about that.

We’re entering a dangerous era where power is being flaunted so boldly, so casually, that it’s numbing. But we have to stay awake. We have to call this out for what it is: manipulation, corruption, and a direct threat to the economic stability of millions of people.

So yeah, I’m angry. And I hope you are too.

Because if we let this slide now, we’re telling the next person in power that the rules don’t matter anymore — that all it takes is a post and a spin, and they can rewrite the market to fit their narrative.

We’re better than that.

Aren’t we?
