Nesan Nair from Sasfin Securities chose Apple Inc. as his stock pick of the day.

"I'm going with Apple, there was a lot of concern about this company about iPhone sales and things but, I think the market is beginning to now appreciate the fact that it's got multiple levers and multiple revenue fronts and does have the team that can deliver that."

Waldo Du Plesssis from Nitrogen Fund Managers chose Old Mutual as his stock pick of the day.

"I'm going to go with Old Mutual, I think it's still a quality business, I mean the stock is down around 17% from the announcement that Peter Moya was being investigated. I think it's overdone, it's a quality operation and at these levels of around R19,50 it looks rather cheap compared to its peers."

Viv Govender from Rand Swiss Offshore chose to go long oil as his stock option for the day.

"I'm still maintaining the oil long as my stock pick, I do think that it is one of the things out there at the moment that has a very small downside but a huge potential upside - if there is a flair up in the Middle-East"

Martin Smith from Anchor Capital chose Amazon as his stock pick of the day. "My pick tonight is Amazon, they recently came out with weak second quarter numbers and it's a good opportunity to buy into some of that weakness."

Craig Pheiffer from Absa Stockbrokers and Portfolio Management chose Expedia as his stock pick of the day

"It's an offshore company called Expedia, most people know it, they know the likes of it like booking.com. So these are online travel, reservation, shopping, retail businesses and I think Expedia's done extremely well, it's priced at around a twenty forward PE but growing earnings at 30%-40% and it's something very interesting to look at."

Bruce Main from Ivy Asset Management chose Reinet and Sygnia as his stock pick of the dayI have chosen Reinet previously and ultimately some of the rump in the asset pool will be listed on the London stock exchange and some value will be released. Locally I am going for a business called Sygnia, it is a company that is cleverly using fin-tech technology to lower the cost to the consumer to buy into the financial services industry. One the whole growing assets under management where a lot of its competitors are loosing in a very tough environment.

Independent Analyst, Liston Meintjes chose Northam Platinum as his stock pick of the day.

"My pick today is Northam Platinum, now the interesting thing was the story of Implats on Tuesday with their results looking good and Royal Bafokeng saying that they are going to come out with a loss. Northam certainly is one of the few places that I look and I say - where is the growth going to come from, and in that particular case I can see growth coming from about three or four different points. Again coming back to your point on Monday, exactly what I expect management to do for me -

putting various things together. Yes, in the bad times people said gosh, "why are they spending that money" and "gosh but that's expensive" and I expect them to reap the rewards as we go forward."

Imtiaz Suliman from Sentio Capital chose Naspers as his stock pick of the day

I choose Nasper, also one that is going to come under corporate action with their listing of Prosus in Amsterdam. I think that is going to create some value unlock which it is a liquidity event whereby European passive indexes will be allowed to include Prosus in their tracking funds. From an overall perspective, Nasper has been trading at a significant discount to its stake in Tencent of around 35% and I think there is some scope for that discount to narrow somewhat given this positive listing that will take place."

I'm joining the group that is looking at this from a contrarian point of view. "I like Sasol, I know it has been under a lot of pressure because they are not able to stick to their budgets in the Lake Charles project. But on a project like that the chances of missing your budget is quite high and it is justifiable. At some point you will see a turnaround in this share and the Lake Charles project will be a massive contributor in terms of the earnings."

Steven Schultz from Momentum chose Mr Price Group Ltd as his stock pick of the day

"So I think sometimes it does pay to swim with the current, and by that measure I'm looking at Mr Price. This retailer has also been hard hit over the past year, it is no secret that the consumer is under massive pressure and as a result they have had negative performance so far this year so year to date they are down around 9%. The company has an exceptionally strong balance sheet, low levels of debt, low credit extension and great management. Our baseline at Momentum Securities is that we are projecting a baseline increase of 12% per annum for the next two years which we think is pretty decent.
