Robert Cameron from Thebe Stocbroking chose Netcare as his stock pick of the day.

"My stock pick is Netcare and it's more a trading stock pick and not a long term hold. I thinks there is still a lot of headwinds in the South African hospitals space but at the moment there are some technical factors that has driven the Netcare share down sharply. First of all their CEO sold around 200 million rands worth of shares and they are about to exit the Top40 Index so a lot of those tracker funds are having to sell off on their holding in Netcare. Their financial results however that came out earlier this month was quite decent. Their dividend was up almost 7% and they increased their headline earnings slightly. It's not expensive and one should keep it for 10% to 20% on the upside, get the dividend and then maybe just bank your profits."

Martin Smith from Anchor Securities chose Bid Corp as his stock pick of the day.

"Post the sell-off on Tuesday, obviously given the MSCI re-weighting - we took a position in quite a lot of SA Inc shares, especially before the Cabinet announcement which had the desired effect today as we saw. But one that I'm fundamentally quite positive on is Bid Corp. I think it's looking like relatively good value, a lot of optionality on the balance sheet, good management team, good structural growth story coming through and I think it's a nice defensive play. Something which I'm personally doing in my portfolios is looking towards more a defensive stance, obviously given the macro backdrop and talks of US recessions and things like that so yes I'm looking for more defensive at the moment and Bid Corp suits that."

Nesan Nair from Sasfin Securities chose Naspers as his stock pick of the day "I still think that Naspers still looks good at these levels. I know that the stock was heavily sold off recently but this corporate action is going to unlock value and I would encourage investors to take advantage of the weakness

Viv Govender from Rand Swiss Offshore chose to go long Rand and short Dollar as his stock option for this week.

"Long the rand short the dollar, I think we've gone way beyond it, the last price I checked it was about R14,74 to the dollar, and I think that's just beyond to where the market really should be and off course the cabinet selection will have an affect on the dollar/rand exchange."

Steven Schultz from Momentum chose Sasol as his stock pick of the day.

"So my stock pick is Sasol, I know it's a strange one given last week's sell-off. The sell-off came on the new discovery announcement and that their capex (capital expenditure) would be increasing by about $1 billion US dollars on the Lake Charles project which is now only 86% complete but should be coming online in a couple of months. It does create a bit of discomfort in their debt profile for the next 18 - 24 months and at R55 per share it is a great opportunity to buy now as management did mention they are going to dispose of non-core assets to the the value of 2$ billion US."

Graeme Franck from PSG Wealth Sandton chose the BHP Group as his stock pick of the day

"I'm gonna go for four BHP Billiton, I know all the miners and commodity prices have come under pressure on the back of China/US trade wars. I think BHP in particular has massively improved their balance sheet over the last couple of years, the dividend yield is about 6% at the moment so it is perhaps a little bit boring in the mining space but at the moment boring is good especially from a diversified mining perspective ."

Craig Pheiffer from Absa Stockbrokers and Portfolio Management chose Walt Disney as his stock pick of the day

"Still looking offshore. last time we were looking at Comcast which is as you now a media studio business. This time I'm looking at Disney, we also own it in our global equity portfolio and it also has the studio business, and it's all about content and creating content. They've got the whole Disney library and I think the latest news from this company is that they're going to start their own streaming business to rival the likes of Netflix, so they pull all their Disney movies and content off those other third party platforms and push it through their own. And I think the markets loved that idea, the share price jumped. I think will take some time to just settle down but I think the longer term prospects are pretty decent."

Ian Cruickshanks from SAIIR tells us why he chooses cash as his stock pick of the day

"Here's some stats to do to confirm there has been the right place to be not indefinitely we're accumulating capital over time and there's no doubt the time will come when value is outstanding it's not outstanding with an economy that may not be great at or maybe great at a half percent that's not an outstanding environment but that will change and as and when that change comes along we're going to go in with a rush with the accumulated capital that we've got"

Martin Smith from Anchor Securities chose Anglo American as his stock pick of the day.

At the moment I choose Anglo American, I like them at this level. It's looking on a spot PE level it's very cheap. They have de-geared their balance sheet quite substantially and if we have a positive resolution with the US - China trade negotiations, I think the share can rally quite nicely.

Steven Schultz from Momentum chose Oceana Group Ltd as his stock pick of the day.

"My stock pick is a 101 year old fishing company that is Cape Town based namely Oceana. They've produced a pretty decent first half set of results earnings growth of 70%, excluding a bit of a tax bump that they received from from the US. What we're finding is an uptick in canned food product, so their fish products and I think that is symbolic of consumers that are under pressure at the moment. They also have cost deficiencies and we believe that there is more way to go from a cost efficiency perspective and vessel utilization which we believe can improve. The stock trades at a 12.4 PE at the moment and boasts a 5.5% dividend yield"
