Business Challenge
Have you been mastering writing a list each day? Do you diligently write down tasks, cross many of them off, but still never feel like you are accomplishing your big mission? Having a list is great and can be helpful, but if you aren’t hitting your bigger goals then there is a problem. Today’s challenge hits right at the heart of being a great task master, but not getting to your big goals.
Today’s challenge that we are excited to tackle is:
“I am a list master, but I never seem to hit my goals. What can I do to really move forward?”
Listen in and read on on to see how you can still eliminate tasks and start reaching your big goals too.
* Diagnosis - You might suffer from E.I.D. Entrepreneurial Idiot Disease means you likely suffer from many great ideas, but you never take them as far as they could go.
* Narrow the list - When there are many items on your list there are likely just 2-3 that will have a real impact. Yes they were added for a reason and yes they still might need to get done, but which ones will start to get you out of the proverbial rat race? Which ones will get you to actually running your business, or business unit, and seeing real growth?
* Take 1 item Expand - Yes, take item on the list that has been sitting there for some time and really work it. Before you dive right in, take the time to write out the steps it will take to finish the task, what you will gain by finishing (time, money, neither?). After you have completed the details set a deadline and ask yourself: does this require me to finish this?
* Accountability - This is the tough one. You might knock down the list, get the key steps done and even set the deadline, but how are you going to truly hit that deadline? Most diets fail because of a lack of accountability. Most plans fail for the same reason. Whether it’s an official coaching relationship or an accountability partner, make sure you put a mechanism in place to really hit that goal.
