A wishful thinker passively waits for the desired outcome to magically appear, while engaging in mindless activity which serves to distract from life’s unpleasantries. One who hopes, takes purposeful action. Hope’s action intentionally moves us in the direction of that for which we hope. Hope isn’t maintained by running from that which is difficult. Hope is forged when we confront that which is difficult and frightening in our lives. Hope can be found in the darkest of places. Hope doesn’t disappoint us, because it keeps us watchful and attentive to what God is revealing moment-by-moment.
