What is Flow and how do I get in it? Well, it's an experience we have when we are truly doing challenging and fulfilling work that moves us so much to lose all sense of time and space while we are in it. The word Self-Care has become a mainstream buzzword, and, in many ways, I have seen it become something that I don’t believe is its original meaning, though many would disagree with me. Care of oneself can look like so many things and isn’t just about taking care of the largest organ on our body (skin) or making sure we are eating healthy and exercising. My perspective of it goes much deeper and yes, there are some folks out there that believe this too. That’s what Rudy and I dive into.

It’s been some time again since my last banter. I decided that Spring, in particular Earth Month and Community Gardens, would be a good place to pick up where I left off. I have been an avid gardener, both containers and ground, for almost three decades and have always been a big fan of people who grow their own food which my home conditions are not conducive for.

My friend Annemarie Sampson, from Mission Driven Wellness and a passionate environmentalist, is having this conversation with me to help share how important Community Gardens are the far-reaching benefits that have lasting impact.

I think many of us feel like the world is on repeat of our space at this same time last year. In some ways, yes, it is. In many other ways, it doesn’t have to be.

We can, as a lot of us do in January, sit down and think about what we want to focus on this year – resolutions, goals, checklist or intentions. I prefer to use the latter word as they are more flexible, a bit expansive and you release them or surrender them over to the Universe to take over. Though that doesn’t mean that you just do nothing. You still need to do the work.

Reclamation of Oneself, my theme for this conversation is with two of my dearest friends I invited back, Mariam Hannon and Lindsay Styck. We talk and laugh about how to take back - reclaim - yourself and really take a look at where you want to expand in this new year. It’s about creating a path and the steps that meet your needs, desires and dreams, not anyone else’s.

This banter is about what questions to ask yourself, what steps to take and how to move forward with these intentions as your guide this year, and how to be kinder to yourself through the whole process.

I ask you to take some time out of your life, make some space and listen to this conversation. Then continue in that space and map out your intentions for the journey ahead. It’s the one of the kindest things you can for yourself – Reclamation of Oneself.

Well, it’s that time of year when the whole world starts talking about Gratitude and what it means because it’s Thanksgiving this week. I am doing a little bit of the same but please know that I talk about Gratitude ALL year long and I specifically talk about Micro Gratitude, which I don’t hear many people really speak to.

I decided to do this conversation by myself, as Micro Gratitude is what I have been practicing my whole adult life. This episode is short and straight to the point and insight into how I live it. Micro Gratitude is a daily practice that happens in so many moments all day long when you allow yourself to get present and really BE IN your life. Yes, it is truly life changing when you allow it to be. I know it’s changed mine.

Look, I know everyone’s always busy and now you’re even busier as we all start the process of wrapping up the year during these upcoming holidays and try to squeeze in seeing all your loved ones too. I get it. Me too.

Here’s what I can tell you. The sooner you start to try on this daily practice with a whole heart and present mind, the sooner your world will change to be more aligned with the presence of Abundance and Good. If you don’t want any of that, that’s ok. If you do, you got nothing to lose.

I ask you to take some time out of your life this week, the week of Thanksgiving here in the U.S. or as I call it, Gratitude Day, and listen to this short banter I have on making your life full of more Good and sharing it with others.

I am back talking about a topic that I am very passionate about for those who know me, and it is Water as WELL-Being and even more importantly, getting everyone on this planet access to clean Water. I am having this conversation with a good friend and peer in this arena, Stephanie Smith. She has been a most impressive champion of both national and global Water education for over 20yrs and we have a really great banter about all of the issues that surround this most precious natural resource that many people take for granted.

Water is the second imperative for humans to survive, air being the first, and it is not something that many of the world are treating with respect. For many people who live in privileged countries/areas, water just flows out of our home tap without fail. It is a restorative resource – hydrating our organs and tissues, relaxing our muscles, cleaning our bodies.

And for so many people in this world none of the above privileges are afforded, even those right here in the United States.

I ask you to take some time out of your life, get present and listen with a whole heart and an open mind to another’s perspective on how you can take a step each day to protect Water so that yours & all those around you have greater WELL-Being longevity.

I am here with a topic that many people know quite well and that has become such a buzzword in many learning and practicing circles – Meditation. I felt so honored to have the conversation with a very dear friend of mine and longtime mentor and colleague, Helga Hefner. She is the only person that I could have this banter with as she is a lifelong practitioner of Meditation.

What I wanted to focus on was removing some of stereotypes around it – whether that it’s become very trendy and fashionable to meditate to how complicated some people and platforms make it. I wanted to talk about what it means to be in stillness versus using the word meditation, and how to bring it back to its simple roots for someone to try one.

SO. Step out of the chaos of life again for an hour or so to learn, to grow, to hear another perspective, and take some time to get still and just listen.

I am proud of any form of Meditation that you try on….even if it’s one minute a day.

I am here with a deep dive into a topic I have long been a promoter and cultivator of: Creativity. I don’t only mean artistic creativity. I mean using creativity to solve problems, shape communication, approach new projects, and of course, use it for entertainment or artistic purposes. I wanted to discuss that being creative doesn't only mean to be an artist; for me, it means looking at a problem/challenge/your daily life differently, with fresh eyes and being insightful. I am having this conversation with a long-time friend of mine, Kathryn Deiss, who truly embraces creativity to the core of her being, exudes it to everyone who she has an experience with and is an expert on the subject both in her work and her other life roles. It is wonderful to be in her presence.

We talk about the stereotypes of creativity in society and how that can stifle a person as well as understanding how to tap into your own source of creativity to help you better communicate and problem solve along with instilling a fresh new approach to all that you do each day.

SO. Step out of the chaos of life again for an hour or so to learn, to grow, to hear another perspective, and in the words of author Elizabeth Gilbert’s approach to creativity, “constantly choose courage over fear.”

I am proud of your courageous steps toward trying any form of creativity on.

I am back with a lighthearted banter with my friend and restaurant owner, Heather Behm, around Food Pt. 2. I wanted to have a conversation around meal preparation for the day/week, food and flavor combinations, understanding spices and overall making the approach to cooking and preparing food easier and fun. I want people to let go of their fears around cooking the absolute right or best tasting meal and explore new flavors as well as learn to try and try again because it only gets better the more you keep at it.

We have a good laugh as we always do because Heather has the best sense of humor and we even talk about dessert which I thought we would agree on. You’ll have to listen to find out how that part of the chat went.

SO. Step out of the chaos of life again for an hour or so to learn, to grow, to hear another perspective, and to take a new approach to food. Make it fun, easy and do some exploring by opening up your paradigms around food and cooking.

As you head into warmer weather in the northern hemisphere of the world, introducing more movement, particularly outside, becomes the norm for everyone. I decided to have one episode of the podcast dedicated to a few types of movement that I feel anyone can and probably already has tried on. I have a banter with three of my friends, Michelle Bobier, Peter Norman and Kathy Pace, around Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Yoga. I know I will have more of these.

With these three types of movement, I wanted to focus more on their overall WELL-Being benefits to the body and mind versus specific techniques or styles. I also wanted to emphasize getting back to the foundations of each of these movements and the simplicity of the practice to really take advantage of the awareness of oneself that they each require.
