The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that medical and health services manager jobs will grow by 32% between 2020 and 2030. CMU Director of Athletics Amy Folan sits down with CMU alum Marita Hattem-Schiffman, president of MyMichigan Medical Centers in Clare, Alma and Mt. Pleasant, as well as two CMU student-athletes studying health administration — gymnast Hannah DeMers and lacrosse player Erin Owens. Marita shares the story of her career path and talks about what she does in health administration and why it is an important field of study. Hannah and Erin talk about their interest in the field, their experience in CMU’s program and what they hope to do after graduation.

Many extraordinary leaders — administrators, coaches and others — have played a role in shaping CMU Athletics. They left a lasting impression at CMU, but they’ve also done the same in leadership roles at other institutions and organizations across the country. Folan sits down with two of these leaders, former Central Michigan football coach Roy Kramer and former track & field coach Kevin White, to discuss how their time at CMU shaped who they are and prepared them to leave their mark throughout successful careers in college athletics.

In this episode, Folan talks with CMU basketball legend, Dan Majerle, and his son Max, who is carrying on the Majerle legacy as one of CMU’s newest basketball recruits. Hear about what it’s like for Dan to see his son in a CMU jersey and what he hopes Max accomplishes as a CMU Chippewa. Also, learn why Max decided to play at CMU, what he’s studying and why this team is so special.

In this episode, Folan addresses mental health. She talks with CMU Athletics dedicated counselor from the CMU Counseling Center, Brooke Bechtel, and student-athletes Jamezz Kimbrough (football) and Faith Anderson (field hockey). Bechtold talks about the critical need for mental health services. Kimbrough and Anderson share inspirational stories that have fueled a passion for mental health and how they plan to make it their life work.
