In this last Marriage Gods way episode, I share my own story and invaluable advice that I have learnt for almost 2 decades of marriage
SBlended families face unique challenges, and these scriptures will offer you encouragement and guidance for unity, patience, love, and trust in God as you work together toward a harmonious new beginning:
1. Ephesians 4:2-3
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."
- This verse encourages family members to approach one another with humility, patience, and love, which are essential for creating unity in a blended family.
2. Colossians 3:13-14
"Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
- Forgiveness and love are crucial in blended families, where past hurts or misunderstandings can arise. This passage reminds each member to forgive as Christ forgave and to let love be the unifying force.
3. Psalm 127:1
"Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain."
- This verse emphasizes that God should be at the center of the family. For blended families, allowing God to "build the house" provides a solid foundation for unity and harmony.
4. Romans 12:10
"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves."
- Honoring one another means showing respect, valuing each other's opinions, and putting each other's needs before personal ones. This is essential in blended families, where children and adults alike need affirmation and love to feel secure and valued.
5. 1 Peter 4:8
"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."
- Deep love helps smooth over imperfections and mistakes, making it easier for blended family members to bond, accept each other, and grow together in grace and forgiveness.
