"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."

• This verse encourages family members to approach one another with humility, patience, and love, which are essential for creating unity in a blended family.

2. Colossians 3:13-14

"Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

• Forgiveness and love are crucial in blended families, where past hurts or misunderstandings can arise. This passage reminds each member to forgive as Christ forgave and to let love be the unifying force.

3. Psalm 127:1

"Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain."

• This verse emphasizes that God should be at the center of the family. For blended families, allowing God to "build the house" provides a solid foundation for unity and harmony.

4. Romans 12:10

"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves."

• Honoring one another means showing respect, valuing each other's opinions, and putting each other's needs before personal ones. This is essential in blended families, where children and adults alike need affirmation and love to feel secure and valued.

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."

Personal development is not a one-time event; it’s an ongoing process. God designed marriage to be a journey where we sharpen each other, where we both keep moving toward maturity. It doesn’t mean we’ll be at the same pace at all times, but we can stay aligned in purpose and dedication.

As the Bible says, money has its own spirit, and if you don’t manage it, it can begin to manage you. As we’ve seen firsthand, keeping God first in our finances is the best approach to avoid this—pray about financial struggles, seek God’s guidance, and trust that even in times of lack, He will sustain you.

• Proverbs 3:9-10 – “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”

• Malachi 3:10 – “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

• Matthew 6:21 – “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Before entering into marriage, especially in a cross-cultural relationship, it’s wise to invest time in pre-marital counseling. Learning these things on the go can be tough, but with preparation and guidance, you can step into marriage ready to face these challenges together, not just as husband and wife, but as a team with God at the center.

Psalm 51:1-2

"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin."

This is a heartfelt plea for God's mercy and cleansing. It's a reminder that God is full of compassion, and we can seek His forgiveness even when we've made mistakes.

Lamentations 3:22-23

"Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

This verse is a great reminder that God's mercy is new every day. No matter how far we've strayed, He is faithful and full of compassion, giving us a fresh start.

Joel 2:13

"Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity."

This encourages a heartfelt return to God. It reminds us that God is merciful and willing to forgive when we sincerely seek His grace.

1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

A promise of forgiveness to those who confess their sins to God. This scripture helps in seeking a fresh start with a clean heart.

Isaiah 55:7 "Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon."

A reminder that when we turn to God, no matter the mistakes we’ve made, He is willing to pardon and show mercy.

Micah 7:18-19"Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea."

A beautiful depiction of God's willingness to show mercy and completely remove our sins when we come to Him in repentance.

A call to confess and turn away from our mistakes to receive God’s mercy and forgiveness.

Take time to pray and process your emotions with God. Bring your hurt, your confusion, and your anger to Him. He is ready to carry your burden and bring you the healing you need.
