  • The Kingdom at His Coming
Matthew 25:6 "And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him." This sermon examines the state of the visible kingdom of God at the time of Christ's second coming, drawing primarily from the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25. The message highlights that the Bridegroom will find a mixture of sleeping saints and slothful sinners, emphasising the spiritual lethargy and compromise often present in the modern church. It asserts that upon His return, Christ will immediately execute a definitive separation between true believers, who possess the oil of the Holy Spirit, and those with empty professions, a judgment carried out by angels under His direct command. The sermon concludes with the joyous prospect of the marriage supper of the Lamb, where the redeemed will celebrate their eternal union with Christ and their final victory over all enemies.

  • Devo 111A: More Prayer Insights
The devotional emphasizes the necessity of shifting the focus of prayer from personal needs to the exaltation of God, drawing on Psalm 66 to illustrate that God listens to those who approach Him with a heart free of cherished iniquity. It argues that true prayer involves high praises that lift up God's character and glory, a practice that enriches the believer's spiritual life and aligns with the intent of the Lord's Prayer. The message encourages believers to examine their hearts before praying and to cultivate a posture of worship that centers on God's person rather than their own circumstances. By prioritizing the glory of the Father, Christians can experience a deeper intimacy with God, similar to the cherished relationship described in the context of long-term marriage.

  • “The Marriage of the Lamb” (sermon 2096)
During this period, Spurgeon is locked in combat, contending for the honour and glory of Christ. This sermon is situated both in the overall battle he is fighting, but also in the context of a pastoral ministry in which he is conscious of the need to feed and encourage the flock of Christ. So, having previously preached on the Lamb in glory (the previous sermon in this volume, number 2095, if you want to read it for yourself) he now wants to emphasise that this Lamb is the Bridegroom of the church, and that all our hope and happiness centres in him not only in this life but also in the life which is to come. He therefore steps through the prospect that lies before us, noting from Revelation 19 some of the events which precede the moment of marriage. He turns our attention to the marriage itself, asking how it has been brought about and what it involves. He fixes our eye upon the Bridegroom of our hearts, Jesus Christ, in his character as the Lamb of God, pushing us to recognise that this is essential to the union. Finally, he allows us to see the wife of the Lamb as she approaches her Beloved, prepared by him, for him, clothed in the white linen of her righteousnesses. It is a beautiful picture, and one which the preacher would have us ponder, not only to stir up love and faith and hope, but also to ensure that we will, through trust in the Lamb, participate in that glorious consummation.

  • Committed Until…
COMMITTED UNTIL… We Do Not Leave the Fight Until the Family Has Rest Primary Passage: Numbers 32 Supporting Passages: Joshua 14; John 3:16; 1 John 3:16; 2 Timothy 3:16; Colossians 3:16; Malachi 3:16; Hebrews 11:6–7; Proverbs 16:3 Central Truth: God has not called us merely to possess something for ourselves. He has joined us to a family. And love for that family demands that we remain committed, engaged, invested, and willing to lay down our lives until our brothers and sisters are strengthened to walk in everything God has appointed for them. There comes a time when commitment has to become more than something we say. It has to become something we stay with. Anybody can be excited at the beginning. Anybody can celebrate a promise when it is first spoken. Anybody can rejoice when the inheritance first comes into view. But Numbers 32 confronts us with another question: What happens when I have what I need, but my brother is still fighting for what God has promised him? What happens when my family is settled, but another family still needs strengthening? What happens when I have crossed my mountain, but somebody beside me is still trying to climb theirs? What happens when God has brought me through a season, but the people around me are still in it? Do I say, "Well, I got mine"? Do I settle down? Do I disengage? Do I take my hands off? Or do I say, "I am committed until…" Until my brothers have crossed. Until my sisters have been strengthened. Until our children know the truth. Until our marriages are being built upon what God says. Until the people God has joined me to are encouraged to possess everything He has appointed for them. Until the family has

  • The Patriarchs: God Begins Again With One Family | Pastor Jayson Hill
The fourth study in the seven dispensations series turns from the failure at Babel to God's call of Abram in Genesis 12, where the Lord begins again with one man and one family. Abram is called to leave his country, his kindred and the idolatry of his father's house, showing that the believer must be separate from the world to be used of God. From Genesis 18, Psalm 127, Malachi 2 and Ephesians 5 and 6, the message sets out the family as the foundation of a nation and the place where the next generation is taught the way of the Lord. Fathers, mothers, husbands, wives and children are each charged with their duty, in contrast to a culture that undermines marriage, motherhood and the authority of parents. It closes with Joshua 24:15 and a call to decide early to serve the Lord and raise a family for Christ.

  • One Flesh
The sermon examines the biblical foundation of marriage by contrasting the lack of explicit family instructions in the Old Testament with the detailed directives found in the New Testament. It emphasizes a close reading of Genesis 2, highlighting the necessity for spouses to leave their parents and become one flesh, a condition often neglected in favor of parental attachment. The message further explores Ephesians 5, positioning marital harmony as the central theme between the commands to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to stand against the devil. The tone is instructional and convicting, urging believers to view obedience to these specific scriptural commands as the path to a happy marriage and divine approval.

  • Knowing Jesus
This study explores the theological depth of Jesus' statement in Matthew 7, clarifying that the Greek word for 'know' implies an intimate, covenantal relationship rather than mere awareness. By examining this concept alongside John 10 and Ephesians 5, the message presents the believer as the bride of Christ, emphasizing that salvation is an inheritance received through a committed union rather than earned through religious works. The speaker draws a parallel between the selfless love of a husband and wife and the agape love of God, illustrating how earthly marriages reflect the divine relationship. This perspective encourages believers to view their daily lives as a living sacrifice and to cultivate a deeper, experiential fellowship with their heavenly bridegroom, allowing God's love to be visibly demonstrated through their conduct and relationships.
