  • The Teachings of Demons
This sermon examines the warning in 1 Timothy 4 regarding false teachings that arise in the last days, specifically focusing on the prohibition of marriage and the mandated abstinence from foods. The message argues that such doctrines are demonic in origin because they contradict God's declaration that all creation is good and to be received with thanksgiving. By citing historical examples like the Roman Catholic priesthood and various ascetic movements, the text illustrates how legalistic requirements can function as a form of deception that denies the goodness of God's design. The central theological point is that while individual conscience and voluntary self-denial are permissible, imposing these restrictions as binding law on the church constitutes a lie that stems from the father of lies. The sermon concludes by urging believers to guard against these deceitful spirits and to affirm the holiness of God's creation through prayer and gratitude.

  • Finishing Well
This sermon concludes a series on Nehemiah by examining the final chapter, where God's people repeatedly drift from their vows despite initial restoration. The central message emphasizes that human strength is insufficient for maintaining faithfulness, highlighting the need for divine grace and the ultimate hope found in Christ, the faithful covenant keeper. The text explores three areas of reformation: the sanctification of worship, specifically the Sabbath; the integrity of families through marriage within the faith; and the holiness of church leadership and service. The preacher urges believers to view their lives through a multi-generational lens, stewarding their time to prepare the next generation rather than seeking immediate results. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a reliance on God's power to sustain the church, reminding listeners that true faithfulness is a gift of grace rather than a product of human effort.

  • Idol Children Become Idle: Spoiling Kids Leads to Hell!
Last week, we considered how people refuse the rest God offers. This message turns to a rest many homes have lost: Proverbs 29:17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. What happens when parents refuse to correct a child because they cannot bear to displease him? Eli honored his sons above God and failed to restrain them. David never asked Adonijah, "Why hast thou done so?" Adonijah grew up to declare, "I will be king." A child left to himself does not stay little. He grows up expecting his own way - in the home, in marriage, at work, and even before God. Indulgence may feel like love for the moment, but Scripture warns that it can bring shame to parents and danger to a child's soul. We will examine what the Bible says about correction, favoritism, idleness, and the hard task of teaching children to hear "no." Parents must love their children enough to put God first, train them while they are young, and prepare them to receive wisdom rather than demand a throne. Proverbs 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. Proverbs 23:14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

  • God's Righteous Jealousy
This sermon explores the divine attribute of God's jealousy, distinguishing it from sinful human envy by framing it as a holy zeal for His exclusive glory and covenant loyalty. By contrasting the perfect order of creation with the disorder introduced by the fall, the message illustrates how humanity's desire for autonomy constitutes idolatry that severs the life-giving relationship with the Creator. The preacher uses the institution of marriage as a primary metaphor to reveal the depth of God's covenantal love, showing how His jealousy protects the exclusive union He desires with His people. The narrative culminates in the gospel promise found in Hosea, where God betroths His people to Himself forever through the imputed righteousness of Christ, satisfying both His justice and His mercy. Finally, the sermon addresses God's avenging jealousy, asserting that His wrath against sin and His love for His people are perfectly united on the cross, offering both a warning to the unrepentant and comfort to believers who trust in His perfect justice.

  • I Timothy 5:6, 13, 15 - Feminine Ungodliness
This sermon examines the concept of feminine ungodliness by contrasting the life of a godly woman with the sins of self-indulgence, idleness, and gossip found in 1 Timothy 5. A woman who pursues pleasure over God, lacks meaningful work, or engages in corrupting speech is effectively dead while living. Drawing on Old Testament examples and New Testament applications, the text warns against the modern manifestations of these sins, such as retirement hedonism, social media addiction, and the breakdown of the domestic sphere. It exhorts believers to recognize godliness through good deeds rather than mere profession of faith, urging women to embrace their God-given roles in marriage, childbearing, and household management. The sermon concludes by challenging the church to champion true femininity and local charity as a counter-culture to modern feminism and state welfare, emphasizing that a life of purpose and service is the path to spiritual vitality.

  • 21 1 Peter 3:5-7 - Sarah's Example and Husbands Respect Your Wives
This sermon explores the biblical principles of marital submission and mutual honor found in 1 Peter 3, emphasizing the 'hidden person of the heart' as a source of spiritual influence. The teaching uses the examples of Sarah, Hannah, and Ruth to illustrate how a wife's gentle and quiet spirit can serve as a powerful testimony, even to an unbelieving husband. It addresses the challenge of suffering while doing what is right, encouraging believers to view such trials as godly suffering rather than a cause for fear. The message concludes by directing husbands to live with their wives in understanding and honor, recognizing them as fellow heirs of the grace of life, thereby ensuring that their prayers are not hindered.

  • Husbands: A Call to Teach
What does it mean for a husband to lead his home spiritually? In this message, Elder Jonathan Moseley considers the biblical call for husbands to know, live, teach, and reinforce the Word of God within their families. Drawing from passages including 1 Peter 3 and Ephesians 5, he looks at practical ways a husband can lead—not simply by telling his family what to do, but by growing in Scripture himself, living out what he teaches, and patiently helping those closest to him grow in their walk with the Lord. This message is part of our ongoing series, The Christian Home, where we are considering the biblical principles that shape marriage, family life, and the responsibilities of husbands and wives. • Time Is Short
What are worldly troubles that we face today that can be a distraction to our service to God? This sermon explores the theological motivation behind Paul's counsel on singleness and marriage in 1 Corinthians 7, framing the Christian life as a period of spiritual warfare. The central argument posits that the 'present distress' and the shortness of the appointed time call believers to a wartime mentality, prioritizing undivided devotion to the Lord over worldly attachments. While affirming the goodness of marriage, the message highlights the unique advantage of singleness for those called to it, offering greater freedom to engage in evangelism and rescue lost souls. The preacher urges the congregation to view their current life stage as a limited opportunity to share the gospel, emphasizing that eternal stakes require immediate readiness and sacrifice. This instructional and convicting tone challenges listeners to examine their personal preparedness for sharing the faith, encouraging them to act with urgency before the opportunity passes.
